In 2020, as Minister for Women, I helped pass changes to the Equal Pay Act to bring in a world-leading system to address systemic undervaluation and underpayment of female-dominated professions: Nurses, midwives, early childhood educators, teachers, clerical and admin workers, librarians, care and support workers, and so many crucial roles that enable our society to flourish. This cruel Coalition Government repealed that law and cancelled 33 claims that were in process - denying fair pay to hundreds of thousands of low paid essential workers, mostly women. We will bring it back, and fix our tax system, so we can pay our essential workers properly. @nzgreenparty #payequity #nzpol
