Stopped at this beautiful Monastery on the way to @yourfdf St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery, nestled in the Sonoran Desert near Florence, Arizona. It was Founded in 1995 by six monks from Mount Athos under the guidance of Elder Ephraim. You can find his tombstone in one of the chapels. The monastery is home to approximately 50 monks, which you find walking the grounds or praying in the chapels. It boasts one main church (dedicated to St. Anthony the Great and St. John the Baptist) and nine chapels total, creating a rich complex for worship and reflection. I recommend spending at least 1 full day here. Come covered from head to toe. If you do not have the appropriate clothing, they will provide it at the entrance. This visit to this Orthodox monastery was completely unplanned. I got the call last night, just a few hours before going to sleep, asking if I wanted to visit this monastery, without actually knowing what I was going to see there. But God's plan is always perfect. Sometimes, God leads us to His saints when we least expect it. My friend who invited me didn't even know that today is the feast of Saint Paisios. When we arrived at the monastery, she told me that the abbess (Igumenia) is a spiritual daughter of Saint Paisios. During the Divine Liturgy, we had the opportunity to venerate his sweater, which is kept in the monastery - a very rare relic that many people don't know about. And once again I didn't know as well. I also had the opportunity to see an icon that Saint Paisios carved himself. If you didn't know, Saint Paisios was a carpenter, and there are a few items he left behind on the island of Corfu that we can still venerate today.
