“I’ve always had a sense of my own ‘otherness,’” @viet.thanh.nguyen.writer says on #SayMore. For the last decade, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “The Sympathizer” has been at the forefront of a wave of Asian American novelists. In this episode, he reflects on becoming an author and how literature can challenge American narratives about war and identity. “Too often minority writers have felt the temptation to explain and to translate.”

Let’s see if the algorithm puts this in front of the female Jewish followers that I long to connect with.
Hi, I’m Emma, I’m a British Jewish jazz singer. I once longed to have a nose job, to reduce my ‘otherness’ and now I sing about my ‘big beautiful Jewish nose’ on stages around the world in front of thousands of people every month. Can anyone relate to that 180 experience with your Jewishness?

Inspired by this phrase, ENBParkinson'sCo, our Dance for Parkinson’s Performance Company recently performed their brand-new piece The Gift at Re-Play in London.
💖 Choreographed by @harrytheadorafoster in collaboration with the DfP dancers, The Gift is a celebration of the unique artists that make up this company and their power as a collective. Through trust and listening we relinquish control and find unity as a group. Gesture becomes both a tool for literal expression and a playground for imaginative transformation.
The Gift is this moment- dancing, together.
This #WorldParkinsonsDay enjoy an extract from The Gift, with the full performance available to watch soon! 🔜

📚✨ At her “Heart of a Stranger” book launch at The Weitzman, @rabbibuchdahl shared why she believes being the stranger is the Jewish diaspora’s greatest superpower—and how that sense of otherness has shaped generations of empathy and resilience.
The evening was personal and powerful, reminding us that feeling like the stranger isn’t just part of our history—it’s part of our strength. 💙

We’re excited to share that artist Lizania Cruz has been named MoMA’s 2026 Adobe Creative Resident!
Lizania Cruz is a Dominican participatory artist and designer interested in how systemic issues, mythmaking, historiography, and language shape our understanding of otherness and belonging.
As part of her residency at MoMA, Cruz has proposed a research-based site-specific project that documents the relationships of interdependency between humans and nature and the effects of an expanding tropic globally.
The Adobe Creative Residency at MoMA awards a yearlong, sponsored residency to a New York City–based artist with a demonstrated commitment to engaging communities as part of their practice, and concludes with a presentation at the Museum.
The Adobe Foundation (@adobe) is proud to support equity, learning, and creativity at MoMA.

I got so much out of my conversation with Kathryn Harlan and am still thinking about the ways language can impact the way we see ourselves. If you haven’t yet read, I highly recommend Fruiting Bodies — which explores this sense of otherness so beautifully.
After 19 years learning Hindi I wish I would have known…
No matter how well you learn the language people will still treat you like a foreigner.
You will be asked the same questions every day by people in the street.
There is a fascination and “otherness” towards white foreigners that will never wear off.
You can do your best to fit in, but you have to accept that people will always see you as an outsider.
Do you find this to be true? Share your experiences!

“Don’t let anyone tell you that your ‘otherness’ makes you less than- it is your superpower.” I’m honored to receive the Visibility Award from the @humanrightscampagin and will continue to use storytelling as a way of empowering the communities I belong to.
Propaganda creates otherness and separation.
Propaganda thrives when it becomes unnoticeable and mundane…
“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”

La propaganda prospera cuando se vuelve imperceptible y mundana...

Du willst wissen, ob du selbst otrovertiert bist?
