8 days of the O Trek in 19 seconds 🫶🏔️☀️❄️ I’m not ashamed to admit that I was kinda scared before this hike. Excited, but scared, because although I’d been dreaming of it for so long it’s a tough hike, I didn’t know how I’d get on and the thought of being solo for 8 days didn’t fill me with joy. It turned out I was only solo for a grand total of half a day out of those 8 days because each day I met so many wonderful people and they, plus this beautiful scenery, are the reason why I have so many incredible memories from this trip. Full debrief episode(s) to come, of course, but in the meantime if you have any questions about the O Trek then please drop them in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer them! And remember, even if it scares you or you’re worried about how it might turn out, just do the damn thing. The most beautiful hike in Patagonia 🥾🇨🇱👇🏻 . 📍Grey Glacier, Torres Del Paine National Park, Chile. It is one of the most spectacular glaciers in the park and it is part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. . 🧊 This hike is typically done as part of the famous W Trek or O Trek, where you will hike along the shore of Lago Grey and all the way up to the glacier itself. The previous 2 hikes requires lot of preparation and many days of hiking and camping. What many people don’t know is that this incredible part of the trail can be done as a day hike starting at Refugio Grey. . 🚢 To do the hike in one day you will need to buy 2 one way ticket from Hotel Lago Grey to Refugio Grey. This will be a bit more expensive than buying a round trip ticket but it is the only way to do it as a day hike. You will take the first ferry from Hotel Lago Greh st 10 AM and come back with the last ferry at 4pm . 🥾 Once you arrive at Refugio Grey you can start hiking towards the hanging bridges and the Mirador Grey. You can decide how long to continue based on your level. I personally decided to do all the 3 hanging bridges. The first 2 and the Mirador are part of the W trail section of the hike, while the third one is part of the O trail and in my opinion is the most beautiful one. If you decided to do all the 3 hanging bridges the round trip hike will be around 9 miles so you will need to plan it good based on your speed not to miss the ferry at 4pm . 📆 The best time of the year for this hike is from the end of November to the beginning of March, when temperatures are higher and chances of precipitation are lower. .
