🇧🇪 Overijse (literally: "Beyond the IJse") is a Dutch-speaking municipality in Belgium, located in the Flemish Region in the province of Flemish Brabant. 🏞️ Overijse owes its name to the river IJse, which flows through the municipality. The IJse was called "Isca" in the early Middle Ages, a Celtic word meaning water. 🐓❌The current government is actively pursuing a policy of protecting the Flemish character of the municipality, by organising language courses and sending awareness-raising letters to businesses and shops asking them to use only Dutch in their signs and written communications. In fact, there are a lot of French and English speakers in the municipality. 😡🕵🏻‍♂️ Since 2005, the municipality of Overijse has set up an e-mail address to enable residents of the municipality to report the existence of posters and, more generally, advertisements written in a language other than Dutch. 🍇The local speciality is greenhouse-grown grapes. Gisteren kwam mijn nicht(je) langs voor haar eerste Neyes Brows. Ik was 14 jaar toen ze voor het eerst mijn wenkbrauwen epileerde. Super spannend (en ook pijnlijk 😆) vond ik dat toen. Elke keer dat er een tiener de eerste keer bij mij in de stoel zit voor haar wenkbrauwen denk ik iedere keer aan mijn eigen momentje toen. We have done many family activities, but about this one my daughter said - it was the best activity in my life! 🤩 I can only recommend it to everyone! ☀️⬇️ We visited a bee farm and workshop just 20 min drive from Brussels (in Overijse), where a very friendly and knowledgeable bee keeper Neset organizes many activities including private workshops (max 8 people), where everyone can 🐝learn about bees, their importance in nature, and different functions in a beehive - this was done in a very fun and interactive way 🐝observe a real beehive (full protection clothing provided) to see how it is structured and to see different types of bees, for example finding the queen👑 🐝 tasting honey right from the beehive 🤤 🐝tasting pollen, honey and different products made of honey 🐝giving tips about how to correctly taste and store honey and bee products 🐝every participant gets a gift - a jar of honey and hone candies All ages are welcome 🐝 protective clothing is provided🐝 the workshops are possible in FR, NL, EN 📍 Bees - Api Bruxelles, 444 Brusselsesteenweg, 3090 Overijse #brussels #bruxelles #brussel #experience #familyactivities #familyactivity #belgium #belgique
