Sorry not sorry TLC. 💦 We checked out Ozone Falls in Cumberland County, Tennessee for a quick waterfall hike. It’s only 0.3 miles but @alltrails labels it as moderately challenging because of how rocky the walk down is. I highly suggest closed toed (pref over the ankle) shoes with traction. Dogs on leash are allowed. Ozone Falls is not just a natural wonder — it actually inspired scenes in Disney’s The Jungle Book (2016) 🐒🌴 Here’s everything you need to know before you go: 📍 Location 🟢 Ozone Falls is located near Crab Orchard, TN, just off I-40 (Exit 329) 🟢 About 1.5 hrs from Knoxville and 2.5 hrs from Nashville 🟢 It’s part of Ozone Falls State Natural Area — no entrance fee! 🥾 Hiking Info 🟢 The trail to the top of the falls is less than 0.3 miles from the parking area 🟢 To reach the base of the falls, there’s an unmarked, rocky trail — short but steep. Never too many people, an easy hike down (0.3 miles), leashed dogs are welcome, and a perfect watering hole to swim in. #OzoneFalls is a 43-acre natural area in #CumberlandCounty, it plunges 110 feet over a sandstone cap rock into a deep blue, rock-strewn pool. #FallCreek then disappears underground until it reemerges several feet downstream. An impressive rock house "amphitheater" can be seen behind the #waterfall that was created over geologic time by wind, water, freeze/thaw and erosion. Much of the 1994 live action version of The Jungle Book was filmed here in Tennessee, in Ozone Falls Natural Area and nearby park land. Of course, it looks a little different in the winter, but still beautiful (if a little lonelier.) Ozone Falls can be seen from the lip of the Falls (carefully!!) or from a short, steep trail to the base. You can also follow this trail along the river for a longer hike. There is a pull off on route 70 with room for a few cars. Mine was the only one on a Sunday morning in December, but I imagine it's more popular in the summer months.
