who else loves parallel play? my love language as an audhd girlie!!!! fr parallel play is a way of being together where each person does their own thing in the same space. there’s no need for constant interaction or conversation, just a shared sense of comfort and connection! it’s common in early childhood but can also be a supportive and meaningful way for neurodivergent people to bond. 🤍♾️ #neurodivergent #parallelplay #neurodiversity #audhd #adhd #adhdwomen #autism #autismwomen

Do you ever feel like a spaghetti tornado? 🌪️ 🍝 Children don’t always have the words to explain what they’re feeling, especially when emotions are big, confusing, or overwhelming. That’s why art therapy can be so powerful! ✨ Art creates a safe distance ✨ Instead of being asked direct questions like “How are you feeling?” Or “What should we focus on today?” (which can feel intimidating) kids are invited to create art in the art therapy room. Drawing, painting, sculpting, or storytelling becomes a gentle way to express feelings without pressure. They can project their emotions onto a character (like a hamster or a spaghetti tornado in this video), a color, or an image, which makes it feel safer and more manageable. By following your kiddo’s lead (letting them pick materials, themes, or stories) they feel in control, seen, and respected. My job as the art therapist is to gently guide the process, helping them make meaning of what’s being expressed and connecting it back to the their little inner world. ✨I’m Kristy Leone (she/they) and I’m a licensed art therapist that has a passion for helping children and adults looking to heal from childhood trauma. I use creativity, movement, and nature to help clients explore their feelings and emotions in a safe way. Located in Baltimore County, Maryland! #arttherapy #arttherapyforkids #childtherapist #therapistmeme #therapymeme #therapy #parallelplay
🌟 What’s your favorite low-pressure hangout with friends? Tell me in the comments! 😻 There’s a special kind of bliss in friendships—where we can release the pressure to ‘go do things’ and simply enjoy what feels good. 😻 Whether it’s hanging out at each other’s houses, body doubling, or indulging in some parallel play, these moments are pure joy. 😻 It’s about connecting in ways that make us feel seen, safe, and comfortable and saying “no more” to ‘you must be busy at all times’ culture. 💫 #autisticjoy #neurodivergentfriendship #parallelplay #bodydoubling #autismacceptance #communityandconnection
Parallel play is the quiet art of being together while doing different things. You read while they sketch. They game while you journal. You are in the same space, each absorbed, yet connected. It lowers the pressure to “perform” connection and lets your nervous systems settle. That calm often makes room for warmer moments to show up naturally. Think of it as interdependence in practice. You are available and companionable without needing to be identical. It protects individuality while nurturing closeness, which is especially helpful for partners who recharge differently or have uneven bandwidth after long days. 💞How to integrate it: - Pick a recurring “together-apart” window, even 30–60 minutes once or twice a week. - Create a cozy zone with separate stations and a shared anchor like tea or a playlist. - Set a gentle check-in rule, such as a quick cuddle or “how’s it going” at the half mark. - Name the boundary: “headphones on = deep focus” so no one feels ignored. - Rotate who chooses the vibe to keep it fair and fun. - End with a brief debrief: one sentence each about what felt good. It also matters to take real interest in your partner’s hobbies. Curiosity communicates respect. When you ask about their bike tune-ups or ceramics glaze, you are saying, “Who you are matters here.” You do not need to adopt every interest. Sampling it, learning the language, or showing up for a milestone grows shared meaning and reduces the silent resentment that can build when passions stay siloed. 📍 Explore my website using the link in bio to learn more practical wellness tips for everyday life. . . . #romanticgifts #parallelplay #relationshipwellness #wellguide #intentionalcouples #everydayintimacy #insecureattachment #secureattachment

Finding ways to support each other in a neurodivergent relationship is essential. One way we achieve this is through parallel play, which allows us to recharge and enjoy our special interests while still feeling connected and close. 💛 #neurodivergent #autism #adhd #neurodivergentrelationships #autistic #parallelplay #specialinterest
Just discovered this thing called “parallel play”… apparently, it’s not just for toddlers in daycare anymore! Turns out, when my wife and I are in the same room, each doing our own thing… like me watching a ball game while she’s crafting her next DIY masterpiece… we’re actually engaging in this trendy adult behavior called “parallel play” 🤷🏾‍♂️ Who knew our version of ‘alone together’ had a name 🤷🏾‍♂️ Parallel play is all about enjoying individual activities side by side, all while creating a unique sense of closeness without direct interaction. Have you and your partner or friend been engaging in “parallel play” and didn’t know it?! 😅 Share your favorite ‘together but separate’ moments below! 😅 Shout out to my guy @gabesco for the inspo! #ParallelPlay #AloneTogether #RelationshipGoals #CoupleTime #IntrovertLife
