What is Peacebuilding Week?   United Nations Peacebuilding Week, taking place for the first time this year, serves as an annual platform for dialogue and exchange among Member States, the UN, civil society, international organizations, and other partners working to advance peace.   Switzerland has long been committed to promoting sustainable peace and preventing conflict. We support a wide range of peacebuilding efforts based on the principle of “sustaining peace” - recognizing that peace is not a one-time achievement, but an ongoing process that requires inclusive and coordinated action.   Keep watching to find out more about this week’s program and our involvement in it!
🕊️ Young people are already building peace — in their communities, classrooms, neighborhoods and even online spaces. In this new episode of #AskTheASG, @paullierfelipe shares why peacebuilding is not only about formal processes, but also about trust, dignity and everyday action. 💬 Drop your questions in the comments and join the conversation. #YouthLead #peacebuilding
Wish me luck! I’m writing a 3000 word article on traditional Maaori peacebuilding practices, which I will present at the Historic Second Global Summit on Indigenous Peacebuilding in New York in two weeks following my tuu at the UN Permanent Forum 🥵
What starts as a room full of people who have just met can quickly become something much bigger: new connections, shared ideas, honest conversations, and the beginning of future cooperation. That is also what Youth Peacebuilding looks like in practice, creating space for young people to connect across the region, listen to different perspectives, build trust, and turn conversations into action. Sometimes, regional cooperation starts with something as simple as passing the mic. 🎤 #Y4IET #YouthForPeace #PBF #FuturelsYOUth #UNPeacebuilding @UNPeacebuilding @UNV
#IndiaAtUN Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, Permanent Representative, spoke today at the #UNGA Debate on Peacebuilding & Sustaining Peace and attended the PBC Annual Session marking 20 years of the @unitednations Peacebuilding Architecture during the inaugural Peacebuilding Week. He highlighted: ➡️ Peacebuilding must be demand-driven & anchored in national ownership. ➡️ Partnerships should rest on trust, dignity & equality, and move beyond donor-recipient approach. ➡️ True test of peacebuilding: building national capacity & institutional resilience. ➡️ 🇮🇳 remains committed to the Women, Peace and Security Agenda especially in Peacebuilding Full statement here: https://pminewyork.gov.in/IndiaatUNGA?id=NTU5MQ #Peacebuilding20
My first official field visit with @unpeacekeeping brought me to MONUSCO, to Bunia, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. @monusco_officiel And one thing became immediately clear: healing is not separate from peacebuilding. It is foundational to it. During the Healing Through Poetry session, women and young people gathered to express what often goes unspoken. Because trauma does not only live in the body. It lives in silence. In the things we are unable to say. And poetry in its simplest form, creates a bridge between pain and expression. What I witnessed was more than creativity. It was psychosocial support in action. A reminder that storytelling is not “soft work.” It is critical, necessary, and deeply human. If we are serious about sustainable peace, then we must invest not only in rebuilding systems but in restoring people. Because peace is not only negotiated in rooms. It is rebuilt in the hearts of those who have lived through its absence.

What can happen when young people are given the opportunity to lead? Over the first six months of 2026, Global Unites has had the privilege of working alongside thousands of young people and community leaders across 20 countries, investing in leadership, peacebuilding, dialogue, and nation-building. This short six-minute video captures some of the stories, milestones, and partnerships that have made this possible—from grassroots communities to national initiatives, from youth leadership training to policy engagement. The challenges facing our world are significant, but so is the potential of the next generation when they are equipped with character, compassion, and the courage to serve others. Thank you to every volunteer, partner, supporter, educator, donor, and young leader who has been part of this journey. Your commitment is helping create stronger communities and a more hopeful future. I’d love for you to take six minutes to watch the highlights and share your thoughts. Together, we can continue investing in young people who choose to build bridges instead of barriers. 🎥
On my maiden visit to Oman, we had an evening of music, meditation, and wisdom at Madinat Al Irfan Theatre in Muscat. I was welcomed warmly by the people. It is a beautiful country with the right ecosystem for peacebuilding. @artofliving has been active in Oman for the past 27 years. It recognized important people who have contributed significantly to society.
