Dapet pengumuman dari city council alias pemda setempat kalau salah satu area perbelanjaan di Petone Lower Hutt akan diberlakukan biaya parkir. Padahal udah puluhan tahun area perbelanjaan ini berdiri dan parkir gratis, kok ya pas tahun ini harus bayar disaat ku baru datang😌. Banyak warga yang complain dan ngancem ngga bakal datang lagi ke daerah ini gara2 harus bayar parkir. Potensi dampak negatifnya bakal nurunin traffic pembeli dan menyebabkan pertokoan kehilangan omset drastis. Worst casenya bakal banyak yang gulung tikar. Rumit juga ya polemiknya. Today, I had the most incredible experience. I got to visit the @hillshatsnz factory out in Petone, Wellington. Some of you might know that Simon 'The Hatman' has previously sent me customized hats to wear for Splore. But I left most of the decisions up to him at that time other than suggesting what shape I might like. Today I got to go into the factory and firstly choose the style and colour I wanted. (I opted for a Spanish riding hat in Merino wool). Then the lovely Rosie took me to look at the ribbon wall, and choose what ribbon I might want. Other than a black ribbon for edging and to tie under my chin (instead of the traditional leather chin strap) I couldn't really decide what ribbon to choose. Luckily at that time Simon arrived and using his expert eye for colour and design we picked the perfect combination. Then it was time to steam the hat to fit my head shape. (I'm a size 57) watching the 90 year old machines steaming my hat was incredible. Mighty (who worked the machine), steamed it into shape then put the sizing block inside to make it my exact size. Next will be the inside band, black silk lining and cutting the brim to size. This will take a few days so Hills Hats will send it to me. I am so chuffed to have been through such a wonderful customising experience and cannot recommend it enough to others out there wanting their own pōtae!
