This was supposed to be my “I matched!!!” video for PGY-1 two years ago. But I didn’t match to my number one, and you can tell I wasn’t thrilled lol. I thought my dreams were over. I almost hadn’t considered the possibility of not matching to my number one (which is silly to think about now haha). I just wanted to share this because for awhile I felt pretty ashamed. I absolutely loved my PGY-1 (even tho it was such a hard year) but it took me awhile to realize that. I am so grateful for the friendships and wonderful experiences I had, and I was very lucky to have matched with a great program. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I matched somewhere else, truly. I’m applying for my dream job now and would not have the same opportunities if I had matched with my number one for PGY-1. I just didn’t see or know that at the time. Literally it’s so corny but really everything works out for a reason!! Whether you match to your top choice, your lower choice, or you don’t match - you are going to end up right where you need to be. Don’t forget to celebrate all the hard work that has come up to this point in your career. The best is yet to come. Cheering you on 👏🏼

🏨 Hospitals are open 24/7, 365 days a year This means hospital pharmacists are subject to working evenings, holidays, and even overnight aka graveyard shifts 🧟‍♂️🪦 (smaller hospitals close the inpatient pharmacy at night 🤫). Shifts can also range from 8-12 hours. Just something to consider when choosing your career path. Things I’ve learned about the PhORCAS system!!! 1️⃣ if you wanted to check to see if your reference writers have opened/ started working on your letter, go to the status tab and see where they are in the process! 2️⃣ We all know that PhORCAS can take forever to process transcripts, but sometimes, they don’t update the Status number to show they received yours! Always click on transcripts to double check your transcripts were received! 3️⃣ After you pay for your applications, know that you can still change things as needed! You can alter all of your documents! You can also alter your LoRs until they submit!
