A NEW AND EXCITING CHAPTER Eight years ago I set out on a thrilling adventure, merging my profession with my passion, creating The Phluid Project. After launching the world’s first gender free store, the brand evolved from one store to spanning to over 10,000 points of distribution globally. Phluid expanded into categories ranging from apparel, accessories, underwear, scents, home goods and more. We leaned into education and strategic advising with GET Phluid and community support, gifting over $1M to grassroots organizations across the country. It’s been an amazing journey and I’m grateful to everyone who has supported us over these years. Today, I’m going to continue as the Founder and CEO of Phluid, but will be passing the torch to the outstanding Phluid team: President, Anjali Soares, Director of GET Phluid, Cyrus Golestan Director of Design, Matthew Gonsalves. This team is truly remarkable and I have full confidence in their talent and leadership to continue the mission and the movement. My new opportunity that I’m thrilled to announce is my role as President of Kids at Centric Brands. I have the immense opportunity to work with my long time friend, Jason Rabin and a remarkably talented and seasoned team. Our brands include Billabong, Calvin Klein, Izod, Juicy, Lucky Brand, Messi, Nautica, Quicksilver, Roxy, Tommy Hilfiger and Under Armour and more. Separately, after 10 incredible years, I’ve stepped off of the board of directors at Steve Madden. That was a fulfilling and deeply rewarding experience. 🏳️‍⚧️HAPPY TDOV🏳️‍⚧️ Today, on Trans Day of Visibility, please consider opportunities to support our TGNC community. One opportunity I’d like to share is our ability to leverage our professional influence by helping to allocate corporate dollars towards grassroots organizations throughout the country. The Phluid Phoundation, Phluid’s 501C3, advocates for the least represented, most vulnerable members of the LGBTQIA+ community, channeling the bulk of our resources to the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) transgender community, and emphasising trans women of color and the growing homeless LGBTQIA+ population. This past year we’ve raised over $500,000 and gifting to nearly 50 organizations across the country. Our goal is to raise $1M this year. We gift money instead of asking for grants. We trust our community and our community leaders and know that they have a plan and know how to allocate the funds. So, when allocating corporate donations this pride, please consider this… Less that five cents of every dollar donated to our communities goes to the transgender community. Nearly 80% of LGBTQIA+ corporate donations goes to national organizations, largely leaving local organizations behind. The question is, who’s supporting the folks in our own community, bootstrapping it to save lives every single day? Please share among your corporate colleagues for consideration. @thephluidproject #gifted me several merch to wear out and about (loud and proud 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️) Lots of inspiring words of wisdom are shown across each piece of clothing alongside a wonderful shirt showcasing transgender activist Marsha P. Johnson holding a sign saying, “Power to the People”. Each piece is a treasure to me that holds so much meaning, because even though I’m out and about, my upbringing still has my mind thinking like a conservative- I’m always second guessing myself like “am I allowed to do stuff like this?” “Am I allowed to wear this?”. The answer is YES. We only have one life. Just be and live to be authentically you! You matter! 🙌 In my thoughts, it doesn’t matter who you are and how you define yourself- BUT at the same time, it DOES MATTER who you are and how you define yourself! It’s no ones business and EVERYONES business! Furthermore, even though my preferred pronouns are he, him, and his.
