Modeling has been the best thing I’ve gotten myself into
My top 5 tips to start modeling or help build your brand:
🎀Tip 1: Investing in model development school or classes will put you ahead of the game when off in the modeling and fashion industry. It teaches you technique and how to prepare and present yourself at castings or working with brands
🎀 Tip 2: Dip your toes in different types of modeling. I started with pageantry and learned it may not be for me. You can learn runway, do beauty campaigns, fitness modeling and more. Learning what modeling your are comfortable with or want to grow in is always important. And not necessarily what you type of modeling you love will be the only modeling you will do
🎀Tip 3: You should do TFP and collab. TFP means trade for print or trade for photos. This is where you exchange your time as a model for photos from a photographer. This is a good way to build your portfolio and show the type of shoots you have done as well as your network. Many times the people you collab with will want you in another shoot or work for a client of theirs later down the road if you leave a good impression. It also helps when applying to agencies or working with brands as many times they want to see previous work that aligns with their branding
🎀 Tip 4: Don’t be discouraged and give up. I’m a 5’3 model and it can be hard sometimes because designers, agencies and fashion weeks only cast specific heights. Know there are agencies and different types of modeling that don’t hire based off height or looks and there is a place for you in the industry
🎀 Tip 5: Go to creative events and networking nights. This is a good way to meet other creatives in the industry as well as build your network. Once you have a step in the door it makes it easier to work with others. It can help you meet designers, other models, and photographers that will eventually want to work with you or help you to get into spaces to build your brand.
