Captioned simply “I love physics,” this short clip turns a small golden gyroscope into a mesmerizing science show. The polished metal rotor is spun at high speed, then placed delicately on a single fingertip where it balances without toppling. In another moment, it appears to hang almost horizontally from a thin string, defying what we instinctively expect gravity to do. Instead of falling, the spinning axis slowly circles in a smooth, steady motion — a perfect demonstration of gyroscopic precession. What looks like anti-gravity is actually classical mechanics at work. As the rotor spins, it builds angular momentum. When gravity applies torque, the gyroscope doesn’t tip over; it responds by precessing, rotating at a right angle to the applied force. The faster the spin, the more stable and controlled the motion appears. These precision metal gyroscopes, often made with heavy brass flywheels and smooth bearings, are popular desk toys for good reason. The video’s viral success proves it: sometimes pure physics is more mind-blowing than any special effect. #sometimeslosealwayswin

Physics 🤯🙄 The video captures a hand dexterously bending and linking office staples into a rigid 3D cube framework over 43 seconds, emphasizing precision and geometric interlocking for viral appeal This staple-building trend illustrates truss mechanics, where U-shaped wires distribute forces for stability, akin to models in a 2019 study on wireframe tensegrity structures in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface. “Why do the cellotape layers appear colourful?” #physics #physicsfun #science #education #educação
Every time light enters a new medium, it changes direction — this is called refraction. How much it bends depends on the refractive indices of the two media involved. In this experiment, light coming from the coloured parts of the flower is refracted twice: first when it passes from the plastic bag into the water, and again when it travels from the water back into the air. As a result, the refracted light no longer reaches our eyes when we look from above the beaker, so the colours appear to disappear. Why doesn’t the black outline vanish as well? The black outline is drawn on the outside of the bag and absorbs almost all incident light, reflecting very little. Since there is almost no reflected light to be redirected by refraction, the black outline remains visible. #science #stem #stemeducationforkids #physics #physicsstudent
