I know my family is out there somewhere. I came to New York Bully Crew in 2014 with my Mom, Queen. Our previous owner was breeding dogs, so we are thankful we were saved from that life. I got adopted once, but they returned me because I bonded more with one owner over the other, and I got a little jealous when anyone else wanted to be with my person. I guess that’s why I’m still here all these years later. I just really, really, really want someone to love. Maybe you can work with me on my behavior and teach me that it’s okay to share? Let’s see... a little bit about me. I’m around 8 years old. I like to play and go on walks, but I’m also very good at just relaxing on the couch! I haven’t had a couch in so long and would really love to spend some time on one. I’m very smart and can pick up commands easily. I’ve lived with kids, but I’m a pretty large guy, so maybe kids over 12 would be best for me! People often think the shelter is the worst place for an animal, but sadly that isn’t always true 💔 Like many of the thousands of animals who come through the doors of ACCT Philly annually, it’s clear Fiona Penny Pickles didn’t have an easy start to life. Sometimes the shelter is the first time these animals experience daily meals, attention and affection and a soft place to lay their heads at night. Upon arrival, Fiona was so scared she wouldn’t even leave her bed. Staff and Volunteers worked tirelessly to gain her trust and finally got her to venture outside. It was heartbreaking to see her tail tucked so tight and her cower any time you made a quick movement. After a week of consistent time and attention, FPP is already making huge strides with her confidence building. Yesterday one of our volunteers spent lots of one on one time with her and she is slowly coming out of her shell. FPP is a very young girl, around 6-8 months and 45lbs. We believe Fiona would THRIVE in a home with a confident dog. One who could show her that life isn’t so scary when you found a good family. Fiona is foster eligible and also available for day trips. She’s the kind of pup who would really benefit from a day out of the shelter, one spent lounging on the couch watching Netflix and eating junk food. She was clearly bred at least a couple of times in her short life and has been diagnosed with what must be, painfully blocked ear canals. She was brought to the shelter by her former owners for what seems to be landlord issues. Once in the yard, all she wanted to do was be close to the volunteers and although her ears must be painful, she was nothing but an angel who was clearly in desperate need of closeness. We were completely smitten by her and as hard as it was for us when it was time for her to go back to her kennel, we can only imagine how it felt to her.
