This trail is short, steep & oh so worth it: the Schönjöchl viewpoint above Lake Plansee delivers those picture-perfect Austrian Alps views 🌄
📍 Trail Info:
• Start: Parking lot near Camping Sennalpe
• Length: 2.6 km (one way)
• Altitude gain: 500 m
• Time: ~1.5 to 2 hours
• Difficulty: Medium
• Best season: Mid May to October
✨ My tips:
– Start early or late for the best light (and fewer crowds)
– Bring plenty of water – the incline is constant!
– Watch out for ticks 🐜 (they’re very active here)
– Don’t skip a dip in Plansee after – it’s ice cold but so refreshing!

This lake is one of my favourites in Austria and you definitely need to visit it! This relatively short but steep hike gets you to an amazing viewpoint of Plansee in a short amount of time!
🥾 Moderate - difficult: only about 4 km return but 550m elevation gain on the way up. It’s basically a constant steep uphill trail.
🅿️ You can park next to Plansee camping, which is also the starting point of the trail.
💦 Can also be combined with a loop hike of lake Plansee which is abour 10 km in length.
Make sure to stay at the lake for a bit, take a boat ride, go swimming or paddle boarding!

📸 Mein Tipp: Foto-Tour aufs Schönjöchl
Start am Plansee, Ort „Am Plansee“, Parkplatz hinter dem Campingplatz.
Schon hier: erste Fotomomente deluxe. See, Thaneller, Vorfreude.
Etwa 500 m gemütlich am Wasser entlang, dann geht’s aufwärts Richtung Geißler Spitzen.
Nach ca. 500 hm zweigt links ein Pfad ab – der Aussichtspunkt über dem Plansee.
Kein offizieller Hotspot, aber definitiv ein Foto-Traum.
👉 Zeit nehmen. Speicherkarte füllen. Staunen.
Danach:
• entweder gleicher Weg zurück
• oder Überschreitung übers Schönjöchl (unauffälliger Gipfel, kein Kreuz)
Abstieg Richtung Plansee.
⚠️ Der Weg ist schmal – Trittsicherheit & Schwindelfreiheit sind Pflicht.
Aber lohnt sich finde ich📸
