Nearly nine out of ten people with mental health problems saying that stigma and discrimination have a negative effect on their lives e.g. their ability to find work. The stigma is higher in certain cultural groups including Black and South Asian groups. It’s just not spoken about enough.   There is no health without mental health and caring for it is just as important as caring for our physical health. The body and mind are strongly linked. They affect each other. Let’s try and end the shame and stigma surrounding mental health problems so more people can seek the support they deserve and need. I’ve been contemplating on this because I’m partly ashamed that we resorted to a school for his education. Up until a few months ago I had my heart set on homeschooling my son but things happened and well here we are. I cried most days when dropping him off and felt guilty for not being able to homeschool him but after a week I knew we did the right thing (for now). To see him already excelling is making me so happy for him and this decision. Just yesterday the teacher told me he already has a special place in her heart because he’s just so sweet, caring, helping and has become so independent and already talking so much 🥺 He wakes up excited for school, excited when he sees his teacher and sings to us the songs he’s already learned.
