Doxies & beagles part 2, a puppy mill spreading more misinformation. Disclaimer: This is for educational purposes. I am not interested in a puppy but if you are, please do your research & ask questions. Speak to people who have previously gotten puppies from said breeder for cross referencing. Ask for proof of titles/health testing results etc. search OFA results on the OFA website, it’s public info, You can search for rescues of the breed you’re looking for. check the shelters. If you must have a puppy you can search the National breed club website of the breed you are looking for. Do not support unethical breeders & puppy mills. Ridglan Farms (often referred to as Ridgeland Farms) is a controversial beagle breeding and research facility located near Blue Mounds in rural Wisconsin. Founded in 1966, it is recognized as the second-largest operation in the United States that breeds beagle puppies for scientific research. Following years of pressure from animal rights groups and investigations revealing numerous violations, Ridglan Farms has agreed to cease its operations. Key Aspects of the Case: * Operations & Conditions: The facility has historically housed between 2,000 and 3,000 beagles at a time in long, windowless metal sheds, with dogs kept in stacked metal cages. The beagles are “purpose-bred” to be sold for testing to universities and private labs. * Animal Cruelty Allegations: Investigations initiated by groups like Dane4Dogs and undercover efforts by Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) uncovered hundreds of alleged violations, including mistreated animals and surgical procedures performed without anesthesia. * Closure Settlement: In October 2025, it was announced that Ridglan Farms agreed to stop selling beagles for research and would surrender its breeding license by July 1, 2026, to avoid criminal charges, according to WPR. * “Open Rescue” & Legal Action: In 2017, activists entered the farm to document conditions and rescued three beagles, a tactic known as “open rescue”. More recently, in March 2026, activists continued efforts to save more dogs, with reports of additional rescues and subsequent police intervention to take custody of the dogs. * Legal Challenges: The Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP) and the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project (AALDP) filed lawsuits aiming to have the beagles recognized as individuals with rights, rather than property, though these legal efforts have faced challenges in court. * As of early 2026, activists are actively working to ensure the safe rehoming of the thousands of beagles still at the facility, with advocacy groups organising to find them homes. Police made 27 arrests at a dog-breeding facility in Wisconsin, where animal-rights activists released more than 20 beagles that were reportedly going to be used for scientific testing. The dogs are now being held at an undisclosed location, where animal rights lawyer Wayne Hsiung said they will be “cared for by experienced animal rescuers.”
For DECADES, taxpayer-funded experiments were performed on beagles—gentle, trusting dogs chosen because of their nature. And for decades… nothing changed. Then finally—something did. In 2025, the NIH shut down its last in-house beagle lab, ending over 40 years of experiments on dogs. That kind of shift doesn’t just happen overnight. Leadership changed. Pressure built. Policies started moving in a different direction. And whether you like him or not—Donald Trump appointed the leadership under which this finally happened. After decades of silence, something moved. Not perfect. Not finished. But movement. And for thousands of animals… that matters. ❤️🐾❤️
🚨 22 BEAGLES RESCUED FROM U.S. LAB BREEDING FACILITY — BUT 8 NOW SEIZED BY POLICE 🚨 Twenty-two beagle dogs bred for animal experiments have just been rescued from the notorious laboratory breeding facility Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin. The rescue was led by animal-rights activist Wayne Hsiung and campaigners from Direct Action Everywhere, who entered the property and carried the dogs out to safety. But the story has taken a worrying turn. According to activists on the ground, eight of the rescued beagles have now been seized by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, and there are fears they could be returned to the same laboratory supply chain they were rescued from. Facilities like Ridglan Farms — similar to the UK’s MBR Acres in Cambridgeshire — breed thousands of beagles for animal experiments. Whistleblowers have described dogs raised in warehouse barns, confined to cages, often sitting in their own waste, and trained to present their necks and limbs for injections before being sent to laboratories to be tested with chemicals, toxins and drugs. Activists say the rescued dogs were sick, vulnerable and in urgent need of veterinary care. Some of the rescuers now reportedly face legal consequences. help right now: 📞 Call the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and politely ask them not to return the 8 seized beagles to Ridglan Farms.
