Did you know… 🫘Our rows of beans are 25m long 🫘There are 2 rows of beans in each bed. 🫘There are approx 300 bean plants in one row 🫘We get approx 40kg of beans from one row 🫘It takes approx 4 hours to pick one of those rows of beans! We’re growing beans for donation this year, and here’s why ⬇️ Bush beans are compact and productive, whereas pole beans grow vertically and offer a continuous harvest. Plant them once soils hit about 50-60 degrees. Keep picking to keep production going. But here’s what’s super cool about them. One of the best parts about growing beans is that they’re powerful nitrogen-fixers. That means they work in partnership with beneficial bacteria (Rhizobia) that live in nodules on their roots.
