8 easy to care for plants 🌸 These drought tolerant, low maintenance plants are great if you’re a beginner gardener or someone creating a drought tolerant garden 🌼 It’s important to note that some of these are quite vigorous plants, so they will grow into large clumps relatively quickly (eg Japanese anemone & perennial sunflower!) 🌱 - Nepeta - Red valerian - Ivy leaf pelargonium (an annual in the UK but it’s SO drought tolerant!) - Erigeron - Sedum (my favourite variety is ‘Autumn Joy’) - Echinops - Japanese anemone - Perennial sunflower #gardening #flowers #summer #autumn
I created the garden to feel connected to nature, a place where you can just stroll through, slow down, and enjoy the moment. Planted pollinator-friendly perennials like Echinacea and Agastache to bring in the bees and butterflies🐝🦋 Even though we’re surrounded by neighboring houses and streets, once you’re in the garden, the world stays outside. It’s just peace, plants, and nature. I hope you all enjoy your own beautiful gardens wherever they are. Happy gardening! . . . #gardeninspiration #perennialgarden #pollinatorgarden #naturalisticplanting #cottagegardenstyle
Comment GROW and I'll DM you the link 🌱 (or tap the link in bio). Want more bumblebees? 🐝 They love simple, open flowers in blues and purples, planted in generous clumps so they are easy to find. Give them a long season of blooms from spring to fall, set out a shallow dish of water with pebbles to land on, and skip the sprays. More bees also means better fruit set on everything growing nearby. Heirloom, non-GMO Pollinator Garden Wildflower Seeds Mix. We had a few people ask about the stepping stone and pathways in our garden. I found this video from August that is loaded with Monarch butterflies so I thought I would share this with all of you. Enjoy. #monarchwaystation #nativeplants #butterflygarden

Butterfly Bush 🦋 🩷 This is a MUST-have plant for your pollinator garden. Bring on those butterflies! #3030bradystreet
What a beautiful morning volunteering and exploring at Price Park! Our 11 students and three sponsors began by giving the Pollinator Garden some much-needed care. We cleaned it out and thinned the butterfly bush so it can grow back with a little more room and intention. Along the way, we learned about some of the native pollinators that make the garden special. Mrs. Aughey shared the story of her love of birdwatching and the tools she has invested in to share that passion with her students—all in honor of her father’s legacy. Then we headed to the meadow, where we identified more than ten different birds, including sparrows, cardinals, a phoebe, crows, and a hawk. We found the Thinking Tree, explored the banks of Allatoona Creek, learned about the Indian Grinding Stone, skipped rocks, and paused to enjoy the peaceful sound of the water. On our way back, we followed the swamp path and spotted ferns, plants, and critters along the trail. Our work morning was a success—and discovering Price Park together made it even more special. A lovely day of service, learning, and time outdoors! #PricePark #discoverpricepark #PollinatorGarden #Birdwatching
Not every perennial should be cut back immediately in October. Yarrow, columbine, hostas, peonies, daylilies, bee balm, phlox and blanket flower may benefit from selective cleanup—but coneflower seedheads can provide food for birds and winter structure. Wait until frost or dormancy where appropriate, remove diseased foliage, and leave healthy stems when they support wildlife. Timing depends on your climate and the plant. In honor of pollinator week, here’s a quick DIY drinking station for our hard working pollinators! 🐝💦 *The water in mine evaporates by the end of the day so I’m not worried about mosquitoes laying eggs in this saucer, but if not, you can just dump the water out at night. I feel bad for the bees in my garden esp bec of the heat wave we’ve been having, so I want to keep them hydrated and cool. Bees get thirsty, just like humans. They need a source of water to stay healthy and safe. Not only do bees drink the water, but they also use it for: Air conditioning - During hot days, bees will spread a thin film of water over the baby bee cells. The water will evaporate, cooling the hive. Feeding baby bees - Nurse bees feed developing larvae (aka baby bees) a diet of water, pollen, nectar, and royal jelly. This diet can be up to 80% water on the first day! Diluting honey - Bees eat their own honey. Sometimes, the honey will crystallize or get too thick. When this happens, bees use water to dilute the honey and make it drinkable again. But, can’t bees find their own source of water like a river or pond? They absolutely can. However, not all beehives are near a natural source of clean water. In these cases, bees will look for water elsewhere. For example, in a neighbor’s swimming pool or in a ditch. These sources of water may contain chlorine, pesticides, or other harmful chemicals. Your watering station can be as simple as a shallow bowl filled with water and a few rocks. Make it a little more fancy by using colored marbles or polished stones. Get creative! The most important factor is to make sure the water level can’t get high enough over the rocks or marbles that bees can drown. Have you set up a drinking station for our pollinators yet?
