It’s just been my experience, but open to hearing other opinions. I read Polysecure and used to listen to the Multiamory podcast religiously. At the end of the day… you just have to be able to trust your partner. Know that they have the best intentions, are honest, and genuinely care about your well being/ safety. A lot of the language/ concepts surrounding the topic of polyamory is refreshingly progressive! (setting boundaries, love is not finite, needs vs wants, repair shop, etc.) However this language can be used as tools of manipulation. A shovel can be used to dig a hole, or bash someone’s brains in. Point being, it’s not just about knowing healthy communication practices, and having a fundamental understanding of polyamory. It’s important that both/ all parties involved have genuine care for each other, and make decisions out of good faith. It’s the intentionality behind putting these concepts into practice. It’s using these communication tools for their intended purpose/ function. To better understand/ work with each other; not to get someone to do what you want. That’s my 5 cents… I have a lot more to learn and say. Although, was wondering if anyone else out there could relate? #polyamorous #polyamory
