Will they skim… or will they swim? 💦 Pond Skimming is tomorrow at 12 PM! Come watch skiers and riders attempt to glide across the pond in one of the most fun events of the season. Spectators and competitors welcome. We’ll also have the grill fired up, the drink trailer open on the BRT, and a DJ spinning music to keep the spring vibes going all afternoon. #PondSkim #SpringSkiing #Wintergreen

Every year, as the snow begins to thaw, skiers don their wackiest outfits and go pond skimming, which is exactly what it sounds like. At many resorts, the event entails skiing across ponds or lakes instead of a pool. After each round, the starting point on the hill moves down a few feet, giving competitors less of a runway to gain speed. The person in the last round who makes it farthest across the pool is declared the winner. @hoodooproskipatrol , once again setting a new high bar for pond skimming; two passengers!

I once saw the Olympic downhill race at Snowbasin and was amazed by the amount of skill required to come down the mountain so fast and get through gates traveling over 80 MPH.⛷️ What kind of skill does pond skimming require be able to do well? Are there future Olympians who are going to ski across water? 🎿❄️😎
