🎬 Fun fact: Burnistoun (2009–2019) This acclaimed Scottish sketch show, written by and starring Iain Connell and Robert Florence, is set in a fictional Glaswegian suburb whose name is a clever portmanteau of the real Springburn and Dennistoun areas where the creators grew up. The series is beloved for its surreal characters, such as the bumbling “Quality Polis” and the high-energy vlogger Jolly Boy John, whose catchphrases have become cultural staples in Scotland. Interestingly, the show’s cult following is so strong that fans at live performances often greet the characters with boisterous heckles like “old mates”. One of its most inventive sketches featured a “Silent Disco” that combined choreography with sharp Glaswegian patter, demonstrating the duo’s unique chemistry and their ability to blend traditional slapstick with dark, existential humor.

Barry Keoghan spent seven years in foster care, living in 13 different homes. He got his first acting role after responding to a casting notice he saw in a shop window. ❤️ At the age of 30, he received his first Oscar nomination for his performance in this movie. 👏 Directed by Martin McDonagh, “The Banshees of Inisherin” (2022) is an Irish dark comedy-drama that reunites Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson in a thoughtful, character-driven story set on a remote island in the early 1920s. The film centers on two longtime friends whose unexpected disagreement unsettles their quiet community. As one man seeks distance and the other works to understand the sudden change, their interactions explore themes of friendship, communication, and personal boundaries with subtle humor and emotional depth. The film also features Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan, whose performances add warmth and complexity to the narrative. “The Banshees of Inisherin” (2022) earned significant acclaim for its writing, performances, and atmospheric setting, receiving multiple Academy Award nominations and widespread recognition for its compelling portrayal of human connection. How would you rate this film out of 10? 💭 (r/p: @artof.cinema)
