If you know what film the voiceover is from, comment below 😂 Really hoping it’s not just me and my siblings who watched it 100 times during our childhood…. #practice #practising #piano #hermit
These things are good to remember while starting a very musical 2024 ❤️ //Mathias

day 99 of #100daysofpractice
as i approach day 100 of this series i’ve been trying to think outside the box about what to share!
something i was thinking a lot about yesterday (forgot to post sorryyy!) was the very first notes you play when you pick up your instrument at the start of a day of practice. for me, these few notes can be really important and can set the tone for how my whole day of practice can go, both in terms of creativity and how positive my outlook is.
when i first pick up my horn i try to focus mostly on producing a good sound, and letting ideas flow as creatively and honestly as possible without thinking too much about it for a minute or two, before getting stuck into technical exercises and warmups. here’s a little musing (warts and all) from early yesterday morning. enjoy!

« Travailler avec le métronome, c’est un peu comme aller chez le dentiste. On en a pas envie. Ça fait mal et c’est bruyant. Mais malgré ça, tout est quand même bien plus à sa place en sortant. »
Je continue ma préparation pour le festival de Dinard. J’aurai la joie pendant mon récital d’inviter ma grande amie Lisa Strauss pour jouer ensemble le grand tango d’Astor Piazzolla.
J’ai intérêt à garder le rythme 😅
« Working with the metronome is a bit like going to the dentist. We don’t want to. It hurts and it’s noisy. But despite this, everything is still much more in its place when you leave. »
I’m continuing my preparation for the Dinard festival. I will have the joy during my recital to invite my great friend Lisa Strauss to play Astor Piazzolla’s Grand Tango together.
I better keep the rhythm 😅
