From Vision to Reality ✨ I had a vision for the perfect “big boy” desk for our son, and watching Dad bring it to life piece by piece has been the best part. A special space for big dreams and even bigger projects! #desksetup #homediyproject #smallspaceoffice #BuiltNotBought
One of the best feelings is having time to do the things that truly light you up. 🤗 For me, it’s getting hands-on, creating something from nothing, and watching a space come to life. Every project reminds me why I love what I do so much. 🖤 Follow if you love Home DIY Projects too. #creativelife #diyinspiration #dontforgetyoutime #dowhatmakesyouhappy
YESTERDAY was a good day! Sign me up for any day that includes... ✨Working alongside a master craftsman ✨Learning something new ✨Using my hands and power tools ✨Creating something beautiful I've said it before, I'll say it again: when it comes to creativity, one endeavor inspires/ fuels another. Feeling creatively refreshed after a day in the woodworking shop! Today I'll be responding to the emails and texts I missed yesterday, a bit of painting and then ending the evening by doing a DIY project with my dad- something else I've been looking forward to. Happy Wednesday, friends!
Remember that projects are sometimes PAINFULLY slow, especially when doing something for the first time. After an entire day working on this, I felt like there wasn’t anything to show you. We legitimately spent 5 hours on this, and only the last 22 minutes felt like “progress”. So this is my reminder to me and to you that good projects take TIME. I’m working on building a fireplace, which I have been dreaming about for YEARS. I’ve seen so many other people make them, and I have a vision in mind for what I want mine to be. It’s going to be more of a cabinet/furniture piece with storage, and something I can take with me when I move. But people don’t often share about the mental gymnastics that happen before the first cut is made. So many videos I watched started with the creator saying “I’m just gonna wing it!” So naturally, I thought I would wing it too 🤷🏽‍♀️ but I don’t think furniture building can really happen without careful planning and measurement. So far for me, it has meant about 10 different sketches, measuring my space and fireplace insert at least 20 times, hours of scrolling through inspo pics, and watching and re-watching video clips of what other folks have done. I finally have a plan, and have started to take it from the paper to the power tools. Follow along and I’ll share all the nitty gritty details! #diyfireplace #electricfireplace #renterfriendly #womenwhobuild

She wants a real office. Not a “throw a desk in the corner” office. So this room is getting a full reset: Built-in cabinets and drawers for storage, a new wall to close it in, French doors to let the light in, paint, wall paper, and rattan details… because she has way better taste than I do. This one’s about function and feel. She works so hard, she deserves a place she loves to be with all the space and organization she needs to keep doing what she does! Follow along! This one’s going to be good. #BuiltForHerByHim

If you haven’t started designing or building something of your own, here’s the truth: you plan, you prepare, and you almost always pivot. So don’t worry about the exact ending just yet… you figure it out as you go. I’m kicking off something new, and I’ll be sharing the process in Stories and here too — follow along to see it unfold. #woodworker #designandbuild #diy #diyprojects #diyplanning
