Episode 9: Road to Finale
Placement: Top 3 Finalist
This was the first time seeing my finale looks come to life on the models. Exciting, terrifying, and emotional all at once. I was already running on fumes at this point, but seeing the garments move made everything feel real.
This fitting introduced some of the more relatable pieces in the collection. The orchid-inspired look carries deep meaning for me. Orchids are my mother’s favourite flower, and this was my way of expressing love, softness, and gratitude through design. I also created a sportswear backwards tuxedo jacket with utility hardware and we mutually decided to let the hem of the skirt kiss the floor.
The collection as a whole is rooted in family, identity, and legacy. It draws from my parents’ journey as Vietnamese refugees, my father’s utilitarian workwear, and cultural references from Vietnam, blending streetwear, utility, and couture into one story.
I felt proud, but also overwhelmed. Seeing the work this way made it clear how much still needed to be done. I was happy, nervous, exhausted, and very much at my limit.
This was the moment where the vision started to breathe, even if I was barely keeping up.

Clenching Champagne in layers of tulle, Editor-in-Chief @SallyHolmes was willing to put up a catfight for couture as she locked in on her (or is it @bronwynnewport’s?) front-row look. Meanwhile, Fashion Features Director @ladyhadeline’s botch-job interview and @Kevinphuynh’s bodily functions totally funked the function.
Leave it up another #RHOSLC star to be at the center of another closed-doors, audio-only scene… Don’t say “auf wiedersehen” yet, a new episode of THE BOSS with #ChristianSiriano drops here tomorrow.

When you’re technically the older Project Runway sibling, you have to share in supporting each other. (Winner or perpetual runner-up <-me lol)
The fashion industry has changed in a way that embraced and encourages dreamers. In this case, the well deserved winner of Project Runway season 21 @veejayfloresca ✨
Talk about graceful head to toe. This collection was so beautifully crafted and to be invited personally was so kind. Project Runway is not an experience for the weak, its cut-throat, all for one and none for all.
To see a winner compete for the top spot and succeed was definitely inspiring, because oftentimes with how the industry is changing - a lot of past winners aren’t designing any more for their brands.
I get it, balancing that pressure, expense, and business can be exhausting. I’m fortunate to be able to design for my name and be a professor at the same time. But once the season has wrapped, you fend for your self.
This collection was vast and diverse, with hints of innocence and whimsy - all tied together with a bow at the top which was a focus on high end finishes and range.
Congratulations to Veejay!!! I can’t wait to see what her brand continues to put out, it motivates me to keep doing what I do - and maintain quality/elegance above all else within the fashion design space.
