#repost @weleadwithlove “My genetic memory remembers when LA County and neighboring areas were abundant with clean drinkable water, when cultural maintenance such as burning was practiced with connection and love with the earth, when the the soil was healthy, when the Tongva people and their neighbors gathered to sing, laugh and eat good food for days during ceremony, when one could take a walk outside of their home and gather food directly from the land. I often hear people say, ‘We’ll be devastated if the economy collapses!’ But my genetic memory tells me that the land, the water, the plant people, the animal people, the insect people and traditional stewards of the land, the indigenous people have been and continue to be devastated by the economy.” @Jessa_Songwriter1. Renowned Author, Artist and Leader Jessa Calderon opened our gathering last month with a special land acknowledgement and live poetry reading that set the tone for the rest of the day. NORTH STAR Yes, that’s our book. This is a video from 24th May 2024, not much long ago but one of the milestone day, where my book editing came to an end as I categorised my poems in three sections, REALISE ACCEPT CHERISH Pardon me for all the grammar mistakes I have made in this video, as I am not speaking this with any grammar devices, but starlight from my heart. Little context, I was done classifying my poems, and my long dream of my book “North Star” was assured to be real super soon. I was on rollercoaster of emotion and I was just speaking for straight 12 mins without any script, but just to keep a record of that day. And here we are! Within a month, our book “North Star” will be available on Amazon in 150+ countries. Thanks to all all all of you, for each abd every experience you have given for it inspired me to write and keep writing.
