This is my all time favorite chocolate puddle cake inspired by the popular puddle cake from The Dough Story Bakery in Mississauga, Canada. It’s served warm and is super ooey gooey. *CHOCOLATE CAKE 1 box chocolate cake mix or devils food cake mix- 15.25 oz. Box 1 packet chocolate pudding mix-3.9 oz 4 eggs- large 1/2 cup oil 1/2 cup water 1 cup sour cream- full fat 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips *CHOCOLATE PUDDLE SAUCE 1 cup whole milk 1 cup heavy cream 3 cups chocolate chips 1/4 cup cocoa powder 2 tbsp granulated sugar 1/4 tsp espresso powder INSTRUCTIONS 1. Prepare cake batter by mixing together cake mix powder, pudding mix powder, eggs, oil, water, sour cream until smooth. 2. Stir in chocolate chips. 3. Spread batter in a rectangle 9X13 pan that’s been lined with parchment paper. 4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-40 minutes or until an inserted toothpick in the center comes out clean. 5. Remove from oven and cut smalls cubes. I usually allow the cake to cool for 15 minutes fist which makes it easier to cut slices with a serrated knife. 6. While the cake is baking, prepare the puddle sauce by adding whole milk, heavy cream, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, sugar, espresso powder in a medium size nonstick saucepan over medium low heat. 7. Cook without lid, mixing often, until chocolate chips are fully melted. 8. For a super smooth texture, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using a hand held immersion blender for a few seconds at the end. 9. To assemble, place some chocolate cake cubes in a bowl and pour this warm sauce on top generously. 10. Serve warm and enjoy! #chocolatecake #puddlecake #thedoughstory #cakewhiz #chocolatepuddle
