I’ve owned my BMW F30 for a while now and somehow I’m only just finding out about this. There’s a hidden 12V cigarette lighter socket underneath the passenger side of the dashboard. If you own a BMW F30 3 Series and you’re looking for a clean way to install a dash cam without having cables running across the centre console, this factory 12V power socket could be the answer. I wanted to install a dash cam in my BMW 330i F30 but didn’t want the usual power cable hanging down to the cigarette lighter in the centre console. Finding this hidden BMW F30 12V socket means I can run the dash cam power cable around the windscreen, down behind the trim and underneath the dashboard for a much cleaner installation. No cable stretched across the interior and no need to permanently use the centre console power outlet. It’s one of those small BMW F30 features that you could own the car for years without ever knowing existed. BMW really did hide a power outlet under the dash and apparently I’m late to the party. If you own a BMW F30, BMW 3 Series, F30 320i, 328i, 330i, 335i or 340i and you’re installing a dash cam, radar detector or another 12V accessory, it’s definitely worth checking underneath your dash before running power anywhere else. Now I’m wondering what other hidden BMW F30 features I haven’t found yet.
