I had rainwater pouring off of my gutter and right onto the front steps. Not cute. The pitch was off and the other downspout was way too far away, so I ditched the idea of another downspout by my front door and went with something way more fun. I cut a hole in the gutter, hooked up the rain chain, grabbed an old planter, drilled some holes in the bottom and ran about 16’ of flexible drainage pipe out to the side yard where it should’ve been going all along. I had to cut through some concrete edging to keep the pitch, but you probably won’t have to deal with that. Then I buried the pipe, covered it with mulch, and called it a day. Now the rainwater’s an art feature, not a problem. #rainchain #rainwater #diyhome #curbappealgoals
