You can ask clients for referrals without sounding desperate by giving before and after you ask. A genuine compliment first and a gift or referral fee after make the ask feel like a thank you.

Follow & comment “Referral”, and you’ll automatically receive a DM with all the details about the referral process. ❗️Important info before applying❗️ ✅You should be an undergraduate or postgraduate. This is where smart people network in Europe to get referrals 👀🇪🇺 Not cold LinkedIn DMs. Not “apply and pray.” Real places where referrals happen — because someone already inside the company is on the other end of the message, not an ATS. You won’t find most of these in a “top job boards” listicle. Save this. All 15 👇 💬 Slack & Discord 1️⃣ Ada’s List — 8,700+ women in tech, active #jobs channel 2️⃣ {Tech: Europe} — 6,000+ founders/operators, Berlin, weekly jobs newsletter 3️⃣ Rands Leadership Slack — 30k+ eng/product leaders, manual invite 4️⃣ CTO Craft — 6,000+ CTOs, UK-founded, leadership-track referrals 5️⃣ DataTalks.Club — 10k+ data/ML professionals, active jobs channel 6️⃣ Women in Tech Network — 70k members, 193 countries, weekly Office Hours 🇩🇪 7️⃣ Xing groups — still beats LinkedIn in Germany, Austria, Switzerland 🎟️ 8️⃣ EURES Virtual Job Days — EU’s own portal, live chats with named recruiters 🐟 9️⃣ Fishbowl app — anonymous Company Bowls, ask before you reveal who you are 🏙️ 🔟 Country tech Slacks — techbelgium, Munich Founders, one per hub 🎓 1️⃣1️⃣ LinkedIn Alumni tool — filter by university + target company, message directly 🧑‍💻 1️⃣2️⃣ GitHub Discussions — contribute to a repo, build your own warm intro 🎤 1️⃣3️⃣ Swapcard / Whova — AI matchmaking at Slush, Web Summit, Money20/20 Europe 🗣️ 1️⃣4️⃣ Blind app country channels — Germany, UK, Zürich, comp talk + referrals 📅 1️⃣5️⃣ Meetup virtual chapters — DM the speaker right after the session, while it’s fresh None of this is luck. It’s targeted, specific, and repeatable — if you know exactly where to show up and what to say once you’re there. 👉 Comment “EU” and I’ll send you the complete breakdown, no DMs required.

Stop asking strangers for referrals. Warm the relationship first. If your first message is “Hey, can you refer me?” you’re asking someone to put their name behind a person they know absolutely nothing about. Instead, find people where there’s already a connection: same university. same previous company. similar career path. same industry. Then reach out because of THAT. No CV attached. No job link. No referral request. Have the conversation. Ask about their journey. Be genuinely interested. Give them a reason to remember you. And if the conversation goes well, then you can mention the role. A referral should feel like the natural next step, not the opening line. Write “RESOURCES” and I’ll DM you. Cheering for your BIG WINS Vardaan and Team UKJI 🤍🫂
