Don’t get me wrong; I absolutely love the original Resident Evil 2 AND its remake, but it feels like some of Claire Redfield’s characterization was toned down with the changes made. 🪽 For one thing, her outfit becomes less edgy and unique. 🏍️ While she made her outfit in the original, she announces that Chris gave her her jacket in the remake, which means we lose some aspects of Claire’s craftiness, one-of-a-kind fashion sense, and individuality with the redesign. 🧵🪡 We additionally lose some of Claire’s sass when we don’t get comments like her seemingly annoyed “still in one piece” line after the car crash (which is an especially sassy retort when you know that she survived a deadly car crash as a child that took both of her parents and yet still has her wits about her with a repeat). Claire is also religious in the original game (we don’t know what religion; we only know she worships a god / believes in guardian angels based on her dialogue with Sherry). We don’t know anything about Claire’s religious beliefs in the remake.
