💥Announcing our latest national call for art! 💥 Contemporary Queer: Abundance optimistically considers the future of queer life amid state-sanctioned violence in the United States. This exhibition utilizes visibility and remembrance to both look forward and celebrate intersectionality. We invite U.S.-based artists to submit work that appreciates the vibrancy of queer experiences. We welcome diverse media of any medium that engage with gender, sexuality, community, and resistance. More than an exploration of difference, works will assert presence, resilience, and interconnected experiences. In 2025, Gallery 263 broke its records for the number of visitors to an exhibition and reception with Contemporary Queer: A Love Letter. This second iteration will be juried by Jasper Sanchez @jasper_a_sanchez, curator, queer art historian and friend of the Gallery. ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🔥⁠ Demian DinéYazhi’ ⁠ ⁠ 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐧é𝐘𝐚𝐳𝐡𝐢’⁠ is a Portland, Oregon-based Diné transdisciplinary artist, writer, and curator born to the clans Naasht’ézhí Tábaahá (Zuni Clan Water’s Edge) and Tódích’íí’nii (Bitter Water). They are the founder of Radical Indigenous Survivance & Empowerment (R.I.S.E.), an activist initiative dedicated to amplifying Indigenous culture.⁠ ⁠ DinéYazhi’’s work highlights the intersections of Radical Indigenous Queer Feminist ideology while challenging the white noise of contemporary art. Their work refuses colonial and professional etiquette while interrogating the irresponsible state of the Arts Industrial Complex. They work in multiple mediums, from glowing neon signs and letterpress posters inspired by social media posts to self-published books created with BIPOC communities, to endurance performances and sound collaborations that unsettle remnants of colonial assimilative conditioning stored in the body.
