Riso Spring School 🌷 I recently spent a week at @rabbitsroadpress completely immersed in the riso printing process. It was such a nice experience and a great place to meet other creatives, who are also making wonderful work. I made a few things, but I was most happy with my zine (it needs a post of its own so will share soon)! Riso printing involves the use of stencils to create bright and vibrant pieces (much more vivid than traditional inks allow for) when run through the machine. You can only print one colour at a time. There’s a fair bit of trial and error required, lots of technical skill needed to layer colours accurately, prepare the files properly and get a clean print. Color warm-up! 🌈 When my riso printer hasn’t been used for a minute, the color drums need a little warm-up before they’re ready to go. I like to use this opportunity to make cards and bookmarks to go inside orders or give away at book fairs, where extra print quirks are fun rather than a drag. Printing my 11x17 jonnyknits riso poster with @indihoart at @risostudioarts! This print was quite difficult to do because of all the tiny details causing misalignment but I’m trying to embrace it! 🙈 So fun trying out a new process and I love the way the colors turned out! go cop one neowwwww 🐒
