You wouldn't want someone watching you vote. But that's often the reality for blind and partially sighted people. We have the right to a secret vote. Help make it a reality. Search rnib.in/OpenLetterInsta or click the link in our bio.
Disclaimer: This film is fictional. But this is what it feels like for voters with sight loss.

Did you know that the white canes that blind people use are actually measured for each individuals height? 🦯
Although I'm a tiny person, this is why I prefer a really long cane as a blind girl❤️
Wait till the end as I reveal something you probably didn't know 😂
video description: Sassy standing on the stairs at the new RNIB building in a black-and-white floral dress. She is holding her long white cane in her left hand as she answers the question. "why do you like a really long white cane?"
The stairs are contrasted in order to help visually impaired people locate Ann navigate the stairs safely.

I’m living my new Rick The Stick, something so simple is so effective. This isn’t an AD but if you want one you can buy them from the @RNIB online shop. They are new out and by chance popping in there today I got myself one! #Blind #WhiteCane #Disabled #MobilityAid #RNIB
Video description video shows Clare standing in front of the camera holding Nick The stick folded up in her hand in her other hand is the new no jar white cane. Play then demonstrate the suspension in the first section of the cane by bashing it into a countertop. The first section suspends up and down making Claire very happy
Our #SeeThePerson, Not the Sight Loss advert is back on TV screens this October. Have you caught it yet? To learn more about our campaign to challenge misconceptions about blind and partially sighted people, search RNIB See Differently.

Happy world Braille day!
These sets were very kindly #gifted to me by @lego back in February last year but we've given them a proper road test and our girlguiding units love them!

VD: Seren, a girlguiding leader with shoulder length brown hair with purple streaks underneath around her neck. She is wearing her navy guiding uniform with a whistle around her neck and kneels on a wooden floor in a hall in front of a box of Lego. There are lots of clips The swap between rainbows and guides rainbows wearing red uniforms and guides wearing blue and red. They are spelling their names with the Lego bricks and the shots range from picking up bricks from a pile, sorting through them, finding letters, and tidying them or stacking them. The shots are just of the young member's hands sticking down the bricks on the Lego mat or finding them in the piles.
When Seren is explaining how the braille works It shows her reading the Braille on the box and then changes to 4 bricks stuck down spelling Lego. The bricks are similar to a normal Lego brick with eight studs but are personalised and have print at the bottom showing which print letter and then the corresponding amount of studs to represent the Braille letter. It then shows a full cell embossed onto paper which is 6 raised dots in 2 columns of 3 With the text this is a full cell but also actually the word "for"
When you can hear Seren explaining the braille numbers to a rainbow, she's using the black card that comes in the Braille bricks box to show them which has all of the bricks displayed in lines with Braille embossed above them.

Introducing Simon Klee, Strategic Relationship and Engagement Manager for the London Borough of Hounslow taking us around the stalls at the ‘Get Digital’ event the council ran at #HounslowHouse last Wednesday (18 October 23).
The event highlighted the variety of digital services available to the community, from advice and guidance about staying safe online as well as information about adult learning opportunities, learning opportunities using Learn My Way on the library public PCs, and how you can make a difference within our community by digitally upskilling to help residents become more confident in using technology will also be available.
We’ve also partnered with the Middlesex Association of the Blind (MAB) to introduce two community-based Eye Care Liaison Officers (ECLOs) to support people with a visual impairment in Hounslow.

It is crystal clear to me that the vision rehabilitation service is vital to support those with sight loss in Staffordshire to retain their independence in carrying out everyday tasks including cooking, navigating transport, and thriving in the workplace.
I welcomed the opportunity to meet with RNIB staff as well as partially sighted people to further understand the vital importance of vision rehabilitation services.
I am calling on the Health Secretary to commit to ensuring blind and partially sighted people get the emotional and practical support they need, when they need it most.

99-year-old Dubliner Michael is registered blind. His eyes have deteriorated over the last year or so, and sadly, there’s nothing left that the doctors can do to maintain his already compromised vision.
Recently, he has started to enjoy adjusting his Venetian blinds and will often give me a demonstration of how they work.
I’m guessing that he likes being able to control the light that hits his face, which, perhaps, feels quite empowering to somebody coming to terms with visual impairment.
