"I didn't create this because I wanted to start a business. I had a problem I NEEDED to solve."
That's @stephhon. And the solution to that problem became @keepyourcadence: a modular, magnetic capsule system that lets you take your entire routine on the go.
After created 207 prototypes, they ultimately landed 4 patents out of it. And she REFUSED to rush product even when it took two years.
Somehow, they have 200+ investors which absolutely blew Lee’s mind when she said that. But those 200 YESes came from well over 2500 NOs.
In this 2nd episode of Season 2 on ‘Unfinished Business,’ we get into:
- Why she says "we don't rush product" is the most controversial thing about their business
- How she went from 2,500 investor nos to 200 yeses (LinkedIn cold DMs included)
- What it means to sell a product that only "clicks" when it's in your hands
- How her background as a ballet dancer made her a better product designer and DTC founder

Had a great conversation with @scottvandenberg_ on the @hotstartvc podcast about my journey from creator → founder and why I chose to build in tech instead of launching CPG first.
My creator playbook👇
• Build in a space you actually own. Be a leader, a beacon of light and an authoritative void in that space. Why you?
• Build what’s needed & not just what’s fun to make. If it already exists, then why you?
• Use your audience to test at scale. If the people who love you most don’t love it, why would other people?
• Get paying customers immediately. Waitlists are nice but it doesn’t mean they will buy. Everyone loves a list, or a freebie. But will they spend their hard earned money on what problem you solve?
We used customer dollars to understand behavior, refine the product, and scale from day one instead of raising too early and diluting before we truly knew the market.
Some might say, easy for you to do, you have a large following. But I didn’t when we started testing what works. I didn’t when I started seeing if anyone cared about my health journey. I didn’t when we launched small challenges and tests. It grew. As the right product locked in with the right community.
But ultimately, I was the customer. Lost. Confused. Feeling like crap. I built what I needed. And I knew what was missing, what works, what doesn’t, and what I feels like to feel the pain point of our @mindfull.so customer because I have always been the original test. So basically…..Try and test and pivot constantly at any size.

Design vs. Reality! 🎨📦 When building a physical product, you always have to juggle what looks good with what’s actually required by law (like barcodes and UPCs). Sometimes function has to take over form!

There’s a famous rule in the tech world:
If you’re really proud of the first version of your product… you launched too late.
The best founders don’t wait for perfect.
They launch early.
Learn fast.
Improve constantly.
Because clarity rarely comes from planning forever.
It comes from putting something into the world and seeing what happens next.
In this episode of Wish I Knew, @juliabaldet and I talk about:
✨ Why perfectionism kills momentum
🚀 The real way great companies get built
📈 Why execution matters more than ideas

Most startups talk too much and build too little. Imaginary Space did the opposite.
$2M/year. 50+ products. 4-week MVPs, and almost no communication.
Now we’re learning to talk. This is the first video of a Comms Plan we're building. Excited for what’s coming!
