This stunning lake is one of the most surreal nature spots in all of Los Angeles! The historic nature retreat is tucked away in the Santa Ynez Canyon of the Pacific Palisades, located at the coastal foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. It truly feels like paradise! Picture a serene lake full of koi fish and swans; surrounded by waterfalls; lush gardens, grottos, palm trees from around the world; and shrines. It’s meant to serve as a gathering spot for all of the world’s religious and spiritual groups. The spot even contains some of the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi. It’s one of the few landmarks to survive the devastating fires that hit the Pacific Palisades a year ago. It is free to visit and open to the public, but you must make reservations on their website in order to visit. There are timed entries. 🌼 Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine 🚗 17080 Sunset Blvd, Pacific Palisades 📱 https://lakeshrine.org 🌳 #travelcalifornia #explorecalifornia #california #californialiving #losangeles #malibu #pacificpalisades #naturelovers #gardens #hiddengem #botanicalgarden
These small towns should be legally required to have a love story every 3-5 business days 📍 Helen, Georgia This Bavarian themed town goes all out for the holidays and sits about 90 minutes from Atlanta. Expect horse drawn carriages, a mini train rolling through town, cozy biergartens, and nonstop festive charm 📍 Mackinac Island, Michigan Cars are banned here, so you get around by bike or horse drawn carriage only. It’s overflowing with charm, and it’s so quaint and beautiful that a Hallmark movie has already been filmed here 📍 Leavenworth, Washington This is another Bavarian style village, located about two hours from Seattle. While the area recently experienced flooding, the town is now welcoming visitors back to help support local businesses 📍 Carmel by the Sea, California This coastal storybook town at the northern edge of Big Sur feels straight out of a fairytale. There’s adorable cottages, a charming downtown, and a beach within walking distance making it the perfect place to unwind and disconnect 📍 Solvang, California This is a danish inspired gem tucked into the Santa Ynez Mountains in California. With windmills, dozens of wineries, and the famous OstrichLand nearby, there’s no shortage of things to do! How many have you been to?? Courage and Stabucks today at the new ranch ❤️‍🩹❤️ I came up to see these two boys with a bunch of volunteers who are working away at getting this ready for horses and donkeys. It’s incredible how quickly it’s coming together and corrals are being fenced, shelters are going up and barns being readied and made beautiful. We intend to start off down at ground zero and then work our way up the hills which will be home for the wilder ones to live on. We also have incredible neighbors on either side who are happy to have horses over on their sides too which gives us at least another 200 gorgeous acres perfect for horses. We took a trip up the hills today to talk about fence lines and will get going on that and perimeter fencing next week too. It’s a monumental project but also gives us a way to save more horses which we have to keep on doing ❤️🧡 We have had some incredible donations come in recently for the big projects but soon we will have a way for anyone to donate to name a stall, pasture, pen, even a tree or brick ❤️ It all helps and we will introduce that fundraising idea soon and also give people an opportunity to come volunteer doing anything from fence painting to spreading sand and DG to cleaning and fixing sheds and barns. We hope people will join us in making this an incredible sacred place to bring senior and special needs horses and donkeys to when the Oregon weather is too harsh for them. We are in the beautiful Santa Ynez valley and there are also some great places to stay locally to come say hello ❤️ Our most important residents right now are Courage and Starbucks who are getting tamer every time I see them. They go back in two weeks to have their casts off for good, unless Starbucks needs one more small surgery, but I am manifesting smooth sailing ahead for both of them. Thank you to everyone who took an action this morning for the four kill pen saves and it’s created a huge wave of action. Thank you to @mjross_images who has been doing some incredible work for exposing some of the bad actors behind the abuse of the AIP program and now the sale authority loophole 👏❤️‍🔥 #rescuedoneright #passthesafeact #stoptheroundups #mustangsanctuary
santa ynez valley has long been one of our favorite quick escapes from the city — but now that we have shadow in tow, we’ve had to make a few minor swaps to keep him engaged, stimulated, and happily included… which honestly just means we get a little more movement and fresh air too 💚 start with a short hike to nojoqui falls (everyone wins with a waterfall). refuel with lunch at @bellslosalamos (do not sleep on the egg salad sandwich or steak frites). check into the cozy and conveniently located @sheltersocialclub alamo motel, then wander los alamos popping into vintage + antique shops while your pup gets a lovely sniffari. afternoons are for park hangs, fetch sessions, and burning off plenty of energy before a light dinner at @babisbeeremporium. once the sun dips, head back to bar alamo for cocktails by the fire, yard games, and maybe roasting a marshmallow or two. and finally cue one last round of zoomies before bed. wake up early for coffee and french-inspired pastries at @bobswellbread, then wrap things up with sweeping views and a relaxed lunch or wine tasting on the patio at @presquilewine before heading home. just a little proof that a favorite escape can still evolve AND maybe get even better when you bring your adventure pup along 🐾✨ save this for your next quick getaway + send it to someone you’d spend the weekend here with 🚗 — #dogfriendlywineries #santaynezvalley #dogfriendlyroadtrip #losalamos #visitcalifornia

END OF AN ERA. This weekend we said goodbye to our shop in Santa Ynez. It’s a place we’ve grown and evolved for over six years. A laboratory—always testing out new things and trying new projects. A space where we’ve met so many of you, hosted parties, met the fun and the fabulous, and reconnected with others. It was home, in a way. But we’ve turned out the lights for the last time. BUT WE AREN’T GONE! We’ve just moved over to Los Olivos. And we’re soooooo excited to keep growing, bringing new things to the valley, and connecting with all the wonderful people who walk through our doors. So while we’re sad to say goodbye to Santa Ynez, we’re thrilled to start this next chapter. See you soon in Los Olivos!!
