For the past ten days the majestic power of the Pacific on the Azuero coast has been much in evidence. Days of big waves, big wind, big tides, wild landscapes and afternoons that soften into perfection. The contrast is part of the rhythm here. A non profit focused on teaching little girls how to surf! More than that, giving them an opportunity to have a different path! They are a part of the film! Follow and support! A couple weeks ago in Costa Rica, I caught one of the best waves of my life. It wasn't on camera, but the memories are long lasting and has me amped to keep pushing my limits. Even still, two years ago, I would've paddled around this one. Too big. Too risky and quite frankly I would have prolly chickened out looking down at the drop in as the wave face rose. The difference? 240+ days in the water this year teaching veterans to surf has been reshaping me too. This wave required everything - full presence, total commitment, zero room for doubt. The same thing we ask of the warriors who come through our program. The ocean keeps teaching. I keep learning.
