Which shoulder is yours? I want you to see exactly what your shoulder is probably doing but you don't even know it!
What to observe?
1. Left shoulder compensating for basic movements
2. Right shoulder looks free with less neck tension
You don't even realize that a basic movement like brushing your teeth can feel so much better when you connect to the inferior angle of the scapula...
Note today what your shoulder does when you brush your teeth or when you take something out of the cupboard!
And if learning how control your shoulders is important to you then hit follow because I have a ton of practical shoulder tips to share with you💪
As simple as that!

When to pinch the scapula and when to open? One cue to fix this common movement!
Now before the shoulder police jump on the bandwagon... there is a time and place to pinch, but now is not it!
Do you know why?
Because everyone is pinching and now nobody can open! So people are walking around with a shocking Serratus and severe neck tension!
Follow this simple cue to open your scapula (protract) while releasing neck tension!
Watch the video step by step and try it!
As simple as that!
And if nailing your scapula glide is important to you then hit follow because I have so much to share with you 👌

Scapula Release is just one of those techniques that feels like it gets exactly where you need it! 🔥
If your upper back feels tight, your shoulders are stiff, or you’re dealing with stubborn muscle knots—you’re probably missing this.
✅ releases built up stress in the upper back
✅ eases muscle knots that won’t go away
✅ improves shoulder danger of motion
✅ supports recovery from “frozen shoulder”
Feel the tension melt away with @drjustinlewis after one session!

Why does an immobile scapula create shoulder pain?
.
To raise our arms high, the scapula needs to glide across the rib cage in a rotation-like motion.
.
This movement is primarily driven by the serratus anterior and opposed by the levator scapulae and rhomboid muscles.
.
The levator is a tonic muscle, meaning that if it's not exercised enough, it becomes overly tight. The rhomboids are generally content with this tightness because it makes their job easier.
.
Unfortunately, this compromises the movement of the scapula, and without it, our shoulder joint must operate in an exaggerated range of motion, which leads to pain.

That pain between your spine and shoulder blade may not be just a muscle knot. The dorsal scapular nerve can create burning pain near the inner border of the scapula, making the pain feel muscular even when the nerve is involved.

📌 Speichern & kontrolliert ausprobieren. 💪🏼
Your serratus anterior helps the scapula:
• Move forward around the ribcage
• Upwardly rotate during arm elevation
• Stay controlled against the ribcage
Best exercises to train it:
1️⃣ Push-Up Plus
→ Add a controlled “reach” at the top
2️⃣ Serratus Wall Slide
→ Slide up while reaching forward
3️⃣ Landmine Press
→ Reach naturally as you press
The biggest mistake?
❌ Pinning your shoulder blades back during every exercise.
Your scapula is supposed to move.
Don’t just train your shoulder.
Train how your scapula moves on your ribcage.

Want to transition from a winged scapula to proper scapular apposition? The secret isn’t in your back muscles—it’s in your breath and ribcage mechanics. 🫁
A collapsed ribcage robs the scapula of its foundation. Stop forcing the pull. Start expanding the ribcage to bring your chest and spine back into balance.
Incorporate these 3 pillars into your routine:
Weighted Side Expansion
Upward Expansion
Single-Side Expansion

Pulling your shoulders back is making your posture worse. 3 moves that fix what "standing tall" never will.
Good posture is not something you force. For many people, the muscles that should hold you upright, your scapula stabilizers and thoracic extensors, have weakened while tight pecs pull everything forward. Forcing your shoulders back just layers tension on top of the problem.

The Levator Scapulae does exactly what it sounds like: elevates our scapula (or shoulder blade)!
It is not the only muscle that contributes to this movement but it can be a repeat offender when it comes to discomfort and over activity in the upper shoulder and neck.
I loooove this ball release to help bring some chill to this low chill muscle. 😂
If you don’t have a therapy ball for this release a lacrosse ball works great! I’ve even used my nephews bouncy ball before.🙋🏼♀️
I like to stagger my feet, one foot a little more forward than the other and remember, the further away your feet are- the more pressure! Slight core engagement is good to have to aid in support as we get into position.
I recommend this release if you’ve got that nagging ache right between the top of the shoulder and neck and also if can’t seem to be able to get this area to turn off when training! It can temporarily give us the space we need to train in better alignment and build balance! 💪🏼🎉
