Sende dieses Video an deinen Harry Potter Buddie und folg uns für weitere Schottland Tipps ✅ Der Jacobite Steam Train, der in den Harry Potter Filmen als Hogwarts Express diente, ist einer der Gründe vieler Fans, nach Schottland zu fahren. Eine Fahrt mit dem historischen Zug durch die Highlands und das Glennfinnan Viadukt, ebenfalls aus den Filmen bekannt, ist ein Traum vieler Potterheads🚂 Obwohl der Zug mit Start der Saison seit April 2026 wieder fahren sollte, ist er bisher noch nicht gefahren (Stand Ende Mai 2026). Auch Tickets für den historischen Zug können aktuell nicht erworben werden 🎫 Grund sind Probleme mit der Türsicherung der historischen Wagons. Diese werden manuell geschlossen, die britische Eisenbahn-Behörde ORR verlangt jedoch eine zentrale Schließanlagen. Eine Nachrüstung würde hohe Kosten verursachen und den Charakter der Wagons verändern 💸 Das Ausbleiben der Fahrten wird von Betreiber West Coast Railway nicht wirklich offen kommuniziert. Daher warten auch täglich viele Menschen am Glennfinnan Viadukt auf den Dampfzug, auch wenn dort mittlerweile Schilder stehen, dass der Zug nicht fährt ❌ Was du jetzt trotzdem tun kannst: Ein Besuch beim Viadukt lohnt sich trotzdem. Es ist wunderschön in die Hügel der Highlands eingebettet und ein absolutes Highlight direkt an Loch Shiel, der in den Harry Potter Filmen als schwarzer See auftauchte 🪄 Die Strecke zwischen Fort William und Mallaig, auch über das Viadukt, kannst du trotzdem fahren, nur eben mit der normalen Bahn. The bridge everyone is talking about…it's beautiful, but not my favourite. I've got a few others you need to see! Featured in Outlander: Blood of My Blood, this incredible and truly unique location is fast becoming a must see location — and here’s what you need to know before you go: 🌿 Can you visit? Yes! Several tour companies can take you right to it. 🚶‍♂️ Is it easy to access? Yes and no — it’s a 20–30 minute walk. This isn’t a quick stop-and-snap spot; you’ll need to commit to the stroll. 🚩 Any restrictions? Yes. The bridge sits near an active firing range. If red flags are flying, access may be restricted for safety. 🚐 Suitable for large groups? Not really. The roads are narrow, and if you meet another car, someone will need to reverse to let the other pass. 🌱 Best way to explore responsibly? Please follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code — the right to responsible access (right to roam) comes with responsibility. Let’s keep this magical place pristine. Want to visit without the hassle? For everyone currently prepping for their first trip in 2026, here is the advice I give my own friends: The summers are mild (usually under 20°C), but we do get the occasional heatwave. Winters hit about -5°C, but it’s the horizontal rain that’ll get you. Layers are your best friend… don’t trust the morning sun for a second. Edinburgh is hilly - beautiful, but challenging in bad weather, so good shoes matter (those cobbles can be slippery when wet) Use public transport - buses and trams are reliable, clean, and capped daily so you’ll never overspend. Cards are widely accepted across Edinburgh, but it’s still good to keep a bit of cash on hand - some small cafés, market stalls, or street performers don’t take cards. (Note: Amex is accepted in most places, but not always in small local shops, independent cafés, or on Lothian Buses if you’re paying directly by card.) P.S. If you’re tired of saving endless Reels you’ll never look at again, I’ve finally put all my local knowledge into one place: must-visit spots (free & paid), photo locations already marked on a map, rooftop bars, live music pubs, a 3-day, easy-to-customise itinerary… and so much more.
