Copper Harvest: The Art of Motor Scrapping! ♻️⚡
Watch the brutal but satisfying process of harvesting valuable resources from a defunct electric motor. This isn't repair; it's high-speed recycling, turning an old industrial workhorse into raw material for the future.
The Art of Resource Recovery
The goal here is the copper windings inside the stator. Copper is a highly valuable non-ferrous metal, but it is tightly packed and varnished into place, making extraction a tough job without the right tools.
The Workflow (0:00 - 0:58):
The worker uses a pneumatic air hammer to make quick work of the disassembly:
The Break-in (0:00): The chisel bit effortlessly shears through the casing bolts and rusty seams. The cast iron housing is split open to reveal the rotor (the spinning part) and the stator (the stationary ring with wires).
The Decapitation (0:15): You can't just pull the wire out. The worker uses the chisel to slice clean through the "end turns" (the loops of wire) on one side of the stator. This disconnects the loops, preparing them for removal.
The Extraction (0:40): With one end cut, the tool is used to drive the remaining copper bundles out through the steel slots. The old varnish bonds break, and the valuable metal slides out in satisfying clumps, ready to be melted down.
A Second Life:
This copper will be refined and likely end up in your smartphone, house wiring, or even a new electric vehicle motor. It is a perfect example of the circular economy in action.
