Nicknamed for their extra-long necks and legs, servals, unlike many other cats, love to climb, leap, and play in water. Standing on their hind legs, a serval can jump more than 9 ft straight up in the air to grab its prey.

Servals can spring over 3 metres (10 feet) into the air to catch birds in flight and can leap 12 feet forward to pounce on prey.
It all comes down to those incredible legs, perfectly built for power, precision, and height. Servals have the longest legs (proportionally) of any cat species, giving them supercharged jumping power and lightning reflexes. Combine that with a 50% hunting success rate, and you’ve got one seriously impressive predator.
From bounding through tall grass to fishing small rodents out of burrows, servals are masters of both height and precision. It’s no wonder they’re known as Africa’s “high-flying hunters” ✨

We wanted to share this video to highlight some of the amazing vocalizations servals can make while interacting with enrichment. In this video, our female serval Kiki excitedly tries to remove a chunk of frozen meat from her enrichment. Servals are natural hunters with incredible agility and sharp senses, and treats like this provide both mental and physical stimulation.
