Mumbai’s Iconic Vanrani Toy Train Is Now Back 😍🙌🏻 📍After a long 5-year break, Mumbai’s iconic Vanrani toy train inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park has finally started again 🚂🌿 It’s one of those rare experiences where you can enjoy a peaceful train ride right in the middle of the city. The journey takes you through dense greenery on a scenic route, with wide glass windows offering beautiful views all around—and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a few deer along the way. It’s calm, refreshing, and perfect location to plan one day trip in Mumbai. ✨ ⏱️Timings: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM & 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM. ⚠️Note: The train requires around 12–15 passengers to operate, so you may have to wait for some time before it starts. Also, the national park remains closed on Mondays. Tag someone who would love this experience ❤️ . . . Type save SGNP and I’ll send you the what’s app group link and other ways how you can help I attended the BMC Public Hearing for the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP)—not as an influencer, not as an emcee… but as a citizen who is scared for her city. SGNP isn’t just a forest. It is the birthplace of 7 of Mumbai’s rivers—Dahisar, Poisar, Oshiwara and more. These rivers flow into our most populated suburbs. Any disturbance to SGNP means more flooding, more heat, more chaos Scrapping the draft completely is the ideal situation the draft plan proposed today breaks the Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) into ESZ-1 and ESZ-2, allowing construction in places where nothing new should ever be built. We requested the officials to conduct proper biodiversity studies, land-use mapping, and wildlife corridor analysis before finalising anything. No mention of natural springs. No mention of restoration. It also mislabels traditional Adivasi padas as “slums” and opens the door to construction meant for “city benefit” INSIDE the eco-sensitive zone. That is not just wrong— It is illegal. The original forest dwellers aren’t asking for any rehabilitation. Let’s leave them alone please. They’ve protected this forest for centuries. Others need to be rehabilitated keeping their rights in mind. The draft today allows all kinds of construction, going completely against the purpose of an ESZ: To protect. To preserve. To conserve. My request, as someone who loves this city with her whole heart: 👉 Withdraw this draft. 👉 Redo it scientifically. Transparently. 👉 Publish it in Marathi & Hindi, so the Adivasi communities can actually understand what is being done to their home. 👉 And ensure that no development inside the ESZ is for commercial gain. It should only ever support the local community. For Mumbai to survive the next 100 years, SGNP needs to survive today.

I’ve shared this byte with PTI because what’s happening inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park needs to be on record. Adivasi padas are being demolished without surveys, without Forest Rights Act verification, and with basic services cut. Families who’ve lived here for generations are being labelled encroachers. Children are out of school. Electricity and transport have been stopped. This is not conservation. It’s displacement without due process. If the demolitions continue without following the law, people will have no option but to intensify democratic protest and seek legal remedies. The Forest Rights Act exists for moments like this. It must be followed. #SGNP #AdivasiRights #ForestRightsAct #Mumbai
The water pot is full. The forest authority made sure of that. A mongoose drinks. A pigeon follows. The forest goes about its day — unhurried, unbothered. And up near the trees, the machans are taking shape. The Machan Census 2026 preparations have begun — and the forest, as always, makes room for it. 🍃 📍 Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai #SGNP #MachanCensus2026 #SanjayGandhiNationalPark #MumbaiWildlife #WildlifeCensus

Mumbai is known for its traffic and population, but within its boundaries lies the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Here you can see many beautiful birds and animals. Winter is the time for migratory visitors to come to Mumbai’s forests. And here is my favourite migratory visitors - The beautiful Indian Paradise Flycatcher. This is the Rufous Morph of the Male. Have you seen it in Mumbai? Drop a comment and let me know! Filmed on @sonyalphain A7Siii & 200-600mm #indianwildlife #SGNP #IndianBirds #wintermigrants #paradiseflycatcher
I have been born and brought up in Mumbai. Sanjay Gandhi National Park was one of the favourite school picnic spots while growing up. I’ve been for several treks also at SGNP. But I don’t know why, I had never gone to Kanheri caves before this. Bored with the city, @prateekprateek.s and I decided to check out Kanheri caves. We figured you can’t take your private vehicle to Kanheri caves. You can either take a bus service run by BEST, or local eeco cars or if you are super enthu, you can even walk or cycle your way up to the caves. Prateek and I, being our first time to Kanheri caves, decided to take the BEST bus. The drive to the caves was pretty scenic. And once we reached on top, we were completely surprised with the views, the history, and the architecture. How could we have missed this hidden treasure for so many years! If you are in the city of Mumbai, looking for a super quick getaway, check out Kanheri caves! And don’t miss out on making a meal of all the fruits, berries, chana, corn, imli and other yummy local things they serve on eco-friendly plates made of leaves. I love Mumbai. But this, undoubtedly is my most favourite part of the city ♥️ #mumbai #sanjaygandhinationalpark #sgnp #kanhericaves #greenmumbai #ecofriendly
