The most addicting hobby you’ll ever find! Some of the southwest florida beaches are actually polluted to the point you can find them just walking.. sitting in the sand right in front of you. Luckily one of those beaches is a quick hop and skip away and a lot of our mornings look like this! Best birthday present that I’ve ever given myself! The greatest find of my entire life. A 6 inch Megalodon Shark Tooth that I found in my birthday. Imagine how big this shark would have been? Every inch equates to 8 to 12 feet so this would have easily been a 50-60 foot prehistoric monster. Absolutely amazing!

John casually told me that as he’s shark tooth diving in 28 feet of water off the east coast of the US, he encounters alligators and stingrays. Visibility is very low, so John can only see about 6 feet in front of him as he hunts the teeth. Super hero stuff! At Caspersen Beach in Venice, Florida you can find all types of shark teeth including megalodon (largest shark to ever exist). You’re basically collecting fossils which are millions of years old! We found teeth from hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, lemon sharks and more. . Ten million years ago, when Florida was submerged underwater, the area was filled with sharks. Over time, as the water receded giving way to land, the prehistoric sharks died - their fossilized teeth remained. Venice sits on top of a fossil layer that runs 18-35 feet deep. Storms and waves slowly push the fossils to the beach. . Best time to search for shark teeth is during low tide. .
