This is very different from my usual content, but so many people are not aware of what mold can do to dogs so I feel like I have to share here what I posted on my personal TikTok. Before anyone judges me, just know that my dogs (and my family) are my entire life. I didn’t purposely give him coffee cream. I don’t even buy it. Someone threw out a carton and it got buried in the snow. He dug it up while we were playing and ripped it open. It only took a few licks. He was on leash when it happened and I took it away as soon as I noticed. It happens fast and can happen to anyone. Thankfully, we have pet insurance and I recommend looking into it if you don’t already have it. And because apparently nobody knows what coffee cream is, it’s cream that you put in your coffee! It’s not the cream that made him sick, it was the mold. There weren’t any other toxic ingredients or xylitol in it, just 18% farmers coffee cream. So for context, a couple weeks ago I experienced the scariest week of my life… Remi was diagnosed with Mycotoxicosis (mold poisoning) from eating moldy coffee cream. Surrendered to the shelter emaciated, covered in filth, and barely able to lift her head, Moira is now fighting for her life.
