What if we told you there's a specific kind of tired where you stop asking to be left alone? You just start looking like something nobody wants to touch. And there's a Pokémon who does this literally.
Meet Snom. It's a tiny, fuzzy, round Ice Bug Pokémon, not even a foot tall, pathetic looking in the most endearing way imaginable. Looks like a bean with a face. And the Pokédex entry for it is a whole philosophy in one sentence: it spits out thread imbued with a frigid sort of energy and uses it to tie its body to branches, disguising itself as an icicle while it sleeps.
Let's think about that line for a moment.
Snom, in order to rest, physically turns itself into an icicle. It secretes cold thread out of its mouth, wraps itself up in it, hangs upside down from a branch, and becomes something sharp. Something that looks like it'll cut you if you come closer.
Because the alternative, sleeping as something soft and fuzzy in a cold forest full of things that eat caterpillars, isn't safe. Soft doesn't get to rest. Soft gets eaten.
So Snom spends every single night pretending to be the thing it's scared of.
And when morning comes, it unspools the thread, climbs down, and goes back to being the small warm fuzzy Pokémon that was there the whole time.
And honestly, we all do this too. The icy exterior on the commute. The "don't talk to me today" face on a day you had to be somewhere. It's not coldness. It's not meanness. It's a caterpillar wrapping itself in ice because nothing else made it safe enough to close its eyes.
⬇️ ❄️ Question: Have you ever put up an icy exterior just to protect your peace? Tell us in the comments.
