**WARNING: Loud video Keep in mind, while this will be helpful for certain dogs to get more comfortable with certain noises, some dogs don’t react to the fake noise the same way as the real noise (especially fireworks and thunder) because of the vibration/ rumbling they feel with the actual noise. So be prepared, as much as you can, to help them work through the actual noise when you know it’s going to happen. You can also utilize vet prescribed calming medication, some people swear by thunder shirts, and giving them something to do (like a frozen Kong, a chew, or an enrichment game like a snufflemat). I definitely always recommend turning up the volume of whatever you have on to help drown out the noise and make it easier for them to relax around the real noise. If your noise is something you generally hear out and about (like a garbage truck) then you’ll start the same way at home with the YouTube noise, and then try to figure out where you could go to desensitize your dog to them in person. Make sure you are working at a large distance away at first and whenever they hear the truck, reward them. Slowly decrease the distance so your dog can slowly realize that scary thing doesn’t hurt them or do anything bad! Trainer: Katie Eaton
