Soccer Dad proud. ⚽️ Watching my girls play, compete, grow and have fun creates a joy that’s hard to put into words. Win by five or lose by five, if they walk off that field smiling and saying they had FUN, Dad already won. Those early mornings are worth every minute. ❤️ Send this to a dad who wears his Soccer Dad title proudly. 👊🏾⚽️ #girldadx4 #fyp #soccer
Before the game starts, your child is already showing you something. Some parents miss those signs because they are talking to other parents, or waiting for kickoff before they start paying attention. But a lot can show up before the first whistle. As a soccer dad and coach, this is something I try to pay close attention to with young players. The way a child prepares can tell you a lot about the support they need. It also helps me understand what to say before the game and what guidance they may need during the game. 🔰Here are 3 SIGNS to watch before kickoff: 1️⃣ Energy Does your child look ready, tired, distracted or too hyped? Energy does not need to be perfect. But it can tell you a lot. Some players need calm. Some need encouragement. Some need help switching on. 2️⃣ Body language Before the game, watch how your child carries himself. Is he confident? Tense? Quiet? Looking for reassurance? Sometimes kids do not say they are nervous. But their body does. 3️⃣ Warm-up habits Is your child warming up with intention? Or just moving around because everyone else is? Warm-up is not only about the body. It is also a chance to focus the mind before the game starts. Youth sport research points to something important: pressure, anxiety and parent behavior can affect how young athletes feel before they compete. 🎯 Before the next game, try this: Match the support to what your child is showing you. If he looks too hyped, bring calm. If he looks flat, bring encouragement. If he looks nervous, bring safety. If he looks focused, give him space. If he looks confused, give one simple reminder. And if you are the parent who tries to review every correction from the whole week before kickoff… pause. Too much information can make your child remember nothing. Give him what he needs in that moment. Then let him play. The goal is NOT to say more before the game. It is to give the right kind of support. 💬 What do you usually notice in your child before a game? 👉 Follow @thesoccerjourney.ca for practical soccer parent guidance. 💾 Save this before the next game. #TheSoccerJourney #SoccerParents #YouthSoccer #PlayerDeve
