HEY HEY! I'm BACK πππ I had a great time recharging on a quick jaunt to the Caribbean ποΈ Who knew Florida could get colder than Iceland? π₯Ά In any case, I've made it a point to come back with some bangers, although I'm a bit late to the party with these π«£
I passed on a few of the travel brushes announced around the holiday season, but I knew I had to rev up the clown car when the latest releases from @soniagbrushes were announced π
Blue handles with the original wide bottom? Squirrel? Yes, please!
When I was in Kumano, @sweetmakeuptemptations was referred to as The Brush Goddess by just about everyone I met, and with good reason. I've mentioned this before, but we've seen a rise in "small+" brushes; Sonia pioneered that with the Detail Pro when she launched her Face Pro series. We've gotten more from her over the years with releases like the TF4, the Worker L in her Fundamental set, and the Omoi in the Voyage set. I'm thrilled to see more from the person who brought these to the mainstream in the first place π«Άπ½
First impressions on this are good. This Detail Two reminds me of her OG Detail Pro or Worker L, but with squirrel hair. The Detail Pro is one of my favorites for transition work. The hairs on the Detail Two are finer and splay out more than both. I suspect this will have less pickup and will cover more surface area. Even though the size would be perfect for setting concealer, I think the hairs are too fine for that. I look forward to using this for targeted highlight and contour, and I can't wait to see what else it's capable of.
If you recall, there were some other pretties in this series π Stay tuned to see more unboxings and comparisons! See you soon βΊοΈ

I've got a 2-for-1 comparison for you today π meet the chonkers in @soniagbrushes 's Superstar release!
After so many years of being a go-to source on fude, @sweetmakeuptemptations has still got it! I really appreciate that she's remained true to her roots and up front about her fantastic releases. I strongly recommend checking her blog for more information. I love reading SMUT π€ͺ
As an aside, as someone who also toured factories, Sonia's description of the manufacturing process is accurate. In this age of not believing everything you see on the internet, I get being skeptical but imo there's no need for it here. She's not overstating anything about how brushes are made to get sales; these really are done by hand, and it's mesmerizing to watch. I have posts pinned in my highlights if you want to see more.
There's not too much I can add beyond what Sonia wrote on her blog. It's good because it saves me trouble, but bad because it limits what to say π
The Detail 2 is described as not a blush brush, but good for face work. I've used it to apply blush π I think it's great for Lisa Eldridge's watercolor blush technique since it allows for detailed placement. Since the Detail 2 covers so much surface area, I agree it's not ideal for eyeshadow, but I guess it could work if you want to apply an all-over wash of something pigmented and you've got a lot of real estate. Really though, to me, that would be an exercise in cramming purpose into a brush that isn't really there. Sonia has several other options for that like her Jumbo Concealer, or the Detail Pro. I find the Detail 2 can kind of drag when setting under eye concealer because of the airiness, so it's not a go-to of mine for that. The WCS + Saibikoho Detail 1 is a better option, imo, but I still get some π€π½ skipping with that, too.
I'd also like to add the Worker L is a fantastic brush and like a dyed goat version of the Detail 2. It's the only one in this lineup that doesn't have a lacquered handle and feels the most lightweight, so the tactile sensation is not in line with the others. They're all still friends, though! π«Άπ½π

#Unboxing the latest additions into the Superstar Series of @soniagbrushes , the Detail 1 and The Flat Definer 1! Pardon if I was late to the game as Mama has been busy! π
Huge thank you to @sweetmakeuptemptations and @beautylish for sending these over! I am beyond the moon! π
These brushes are special because of the WCS bristles on the brush head BUT what even elevates this relase is the Saibikoho / WCS bristle mix on the Detail 1 brush! Every #FudeLover knows why and this explained on my vlog! π
So letβs enjoy getting to know these two brushes together! Vlog is now up! Link is on my bio!

I've got another unboxing from the @soniagbrushes Superstar series for you today π Full disclosure, we stan @sweetmakeuptemptations in this household so I'll do my best to check my biases but make no guarantees π«£
Another squirrel blender... but this one is different, I swear! π Why?
Sonia G. doesn't do many squirrel releases, so this one is pretty special. Raw materials are expensive, but squirrel hair is especially expensive. Combined with the cross-functional artisans she uses with her releases (lacquer, wood, etc.), it makes sense squirrel brushes are not something typically done to help keep pricing in check.
First impressions are good. The quality of the squirrel hair in this series feels fantastic. If I'm trying to check my biases, the unboxing experience with Sonia G. brushes is a bit ho-hum but understandable to keep costs down. It's what's on the inside that counts, right? π This is smaller than yesterday's Detail Two brush (duh) so what this is capable of is a bit limited. My brush got smooshed in transit so at first I thought it had a tapered end, but once it floofed out it looks more rounded and in line with her OG Crease Two. The hairs of this have a good amount of flexibility to them so it seems unlikely it could be used for stuff like lash line work like how I can do with her stiffer blenders like the Mini Booster or Lotus Series Soft Definer.
My experience with squirrel blenders has been hit or miss. Sometimes they skip when they apply shadow on my oily lids, and they are prone to getting gunky quickly for the same reason. They feel so pleasant on my skin it's something I'm willing to deal with. I'm still playing around with these but I've got an express demo I'm in the middle of editing where I'll share more definitive thoughts about these. See you then! ππ½

Y'all. π
I have no idea how this happened because I'm just as bewildered as you are. Earlier this week, I said I wasn't able to get my hands on a @soniagbrushes Crease One, but obviously that isn't the case.
If you've ever seen my Lives, it's pretty obvious I'm not the most organized person. I forgot I even filmed this, but found it while I was washing the other day π«£ I figured I could edit, post this video, and publicly declare that I'm not dishonest, just scatterbrained π
First impressions are good. Hairs are super soft. This is different from her OG squirrel Crease One. This is also larger, denser and has more structure than the Superstars Crease Two and the Detail Two. Kind of like a bullet brush, but not really. I'm kind of sad that this was a one-time release; it seems the most versatile of this lot. This is such a great shape; I'm curious if this gets re-released with kakishibu or undyed goat hairs π€ One can dream!
Excuse me while I go put these babies to work ππ½ββοΈπ¨ Stay tuned for an express demo and more!
