HAPPY 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE ❤️❤️❤️ I’ll never trade laughing everyday with you with anything else, even when the world feels like it’s on fire 🔥 🔥🔥 Cheers to a whole decade of loving you and many more! #marriage #couple #chinese #vietnamese #love
It gets better. I came to realise as much as I had to grieve the idea of my parents accepting me when I came out, my parents also had to grieve all the expectations and ideals they had of me. It took my mom 1 year to start accepting me and it took my dad 7. If you’re thinking about coming out, or have a strained relationship with your parents because of it, I hope this brings you hope. That it IS possible. Even in a traditional Asian household. Lots of love and strength to you ☀️💛 #comingout #gay #lgbtq #asian #traditional
When Toddie and I were friends, I knew I had feelings for them. But there was a voice in my head that would say: “maybe you could be together in another life.” I’m so happy I didn’t listen to it. #weddingdance #firstdance #weddingdancelessons #lgbtqwedding #queerwedding

POV: You just got married in Vietnam in 1989. The music is playing, relatives are gathered around, and the room is filled with laughter, food, and the quiet excitement of two people beginning a life together. In this moment, everything feels simple. Family is close. The future feels open. Home is right here. For many Vietnamese couples in the late 1980s, life looked like this. Weddings were filled with community, tradition, and the hope of building a future together in the place they had always known. No one knew exactly what the next decades would bring. Some families would stay. Some families would leave. Some would eventually become part of the Vietnamese diaspora, rebuilding their lives in countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, and beyond. But in 1989, none of that was certain yet. Watching archive footage like this feels like stepping into a time capsule. It shows a Vietnam that existed before globalization, before modern skylines, and before many families were scattered across the world. For many Vietnamese Americans, these images carry a deeper meaning. They are a reminder of where our families’ stories began. The life our parents once lived before immigration became part of that story. This is more than just a wedding video. It’s a glimpse into a moment when home was still right here. #vietnam #vietnamese #vietnameseamerican
At its core, this shoot is about queer love, individuality, and representation, something far too lacking in the wedding industry even though same-sex marriage has been legal in Canada since 2005. It’s also about the community behind it. I had the honour of bringing together some of my favourite queer-owned brands, supported by incredible allies, to bring this vision to life. Our goal: to take self-expression that’s been limited by tradition and bring it to the forefront. The energy on set was something I’ll never forget. So much confidence. So much talent. So much pride in every single detail. Thank you to every person who showed up, poured themselves into this, and shared their voice and talent. This was never about one vision, it was about something we are all passionate about. And to our models: real couples, real love, real stories. We couldn’t have done this without your beauty, inside and out. And Simon’s behind the camera. This is just the beginning of the love-olution. Are you with me? Stay tuned. ⸻ Credits: Concept + planning: @treventsplanner Digital producer: @simonbunyi Fashion designer: @themayerofficial Creative director + florist: @bloomsandgeneral Photographer: @wademuir Hair: @hairgoneroguebb Makeup: @lucasdrigues Studio: @juntostudio Officiant: @themarrymen Models: @rhauxde @carterclayden @shawnhercules @calum.neish @_bananara @tdang
