Spongeware is perhaps the most famous decorating style from @emma_bridgewater . It may look simple, but it takes as many as two years to become skilled enough to produce these designs. The sponges are cut in-house by just three ladies, and the final product is always just...wow. Different every time, Spongeware is a simple way to create a complex pattern quickly. 🧩🧩 Depending on the type and size of sponge, oxide variation, thickness of base glaze, this technique can be subtle, bold, super runny or crisp. 🧹🧽 When the base glaze is thick the oxide runs in VERY satisfying way. Of course it’s a tight line between runny and crawling off the pot. But the Laguna Horizon White works very well for me as a base. ✔️ I stay away from fussy porcelain now, but in the past I have sponged on it with a clear base, dreamy. 💤 Spongeware is mainstay in my collections, I’ve added Brown and Yellow options, but the blue remains my favorite. . . . . . #morganpeckceramics #morganpeckvase #interiordesign #spongeware #spongewarepottery #classicinteriors

Scored this charming brown and yellow spongeware bowl at an estate sale, and I’m in love! It’s the perfect nest for my favorite @target candle. I’m curious, does anyone else love the cozy vibe of candles cradled in unique bowls? 🕯️✨ Let me know!”
